Hey my Opti gets 3-3.5 mpg at cruise speeds. And thats 30kts! Not bad for a two stroke.

By myself, no gear, WFO and trimmed, 53mph and no worries, solid as a rock, drive with my pinky
This Center Console, loves passing the fuel docks at 60. Still has plenty of feel and handling running in the mid to high 50's IMO. Last time out 58mph upwind, solo run, light,1/2 tank of fuel and icechest full, light chop 88 degrees 80% humidity, on the limiter with the prop choice. When the nose starts to float you know your speed is picking up. With a boatload of people/stuff, getting the boat to fly becomes more difficult.
As for the OptiPop on a 30knt cruise, gotta be good mileage, mine seems to be making fuel, need to hook up these Smartcraft gauges that Spareparts came up with a while back..Mileage might not be as good as the 140 4-stroke but pretty good for a 250 hp no smoke 2 stroke, most efficient in class IIRC. I will say this about the Merc, your not gonna wear out the ring gear guessing if it is running or not.![]()
That is getting it done. My old 200 2.4 would see 48 WFO trimmed out.

Current Prop is a Quicksilver 14.8 x 21p. 5900 RPM limiter 58.1 mph
With the setback I have the motor as high as it will go and maintain water pressure. My spare prop is a Tempest 14.5 x 23p and is the fastest prop I have, light load turning 5900 rpm 60.1 mph. The motor is a stock 250 XS Merc. I think 250 is about where it is at for hp. The old 250 EFI had a better power to weight ratio so it was faster, retired because it used twice as much fuel. The best I ever saw was 63.1 upwind, down current with the 23p Tempest on the limiter. It dawned on me later that I could have had a 2 to 3 MPH current that day..
None of these top end numbers are very efficient, lots of prop slip. My MPH could be much better if I shed the T-top and baitwell/leaning post combo. That has got to be costing me some efficiency.
