Mahi and Cobia

Don't have time to tell the full story but we overnighted 55mi out the other night and had a blast. We caught a nice dolphin, a nice Cobia, b-liners, seabass, triggers, mangroves and a cutlassfish. The dolphin swam up to the boat at 6:20, 5 min after I got up and was able to get him to eat a fresh and lively cigar. Enjoy.......

Hell yeah, that is a nice 25 - 30lb (or looks to be) class dolphin! And one heck of a cobia. And one heck of a box of bottom goodies. Nice work man!! Jealous in NC.

You win!!!! A dolphin like that is on the top of my list of fish to catch NICE FISH :clap::clap: just missing the mermaid!!!!

Thanks Fellas!!! I'm lookin forward to gettin out there again just got to get some cooperatin seas and its on!!!!

Were you in your v20 on this trip. if in your boat how much fuel did you burn. Were there other boats with you?

We took the 23' Dusky on this one but Ive had mine out there several times. On a nice day she'll burn 38-40gals/+-120mi. Amazingly we didn't see another boat all night long. Ive had some close calls out there at night before and they were all because of AP/collision avoidance while the boats capt was  obviously. Literally had a boat do a 90deg turn right at us one time. I had to reach in between the guy drivin the boat and slam the throttles cause I saw red and green ABOVE MY HEAD and our capt didn't!!!! PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS ON WHO YOU CATCH RIDES WITH!!!!!!

Skunk - I like balls too!!........but just my balls:you: j.k. If it were a 100mi I would've done 100mi. Why? cause I love it and I know I can't do this schizz the rest of my life.

I encourage everyone to try it. I have seen some amazing things on overnighters/night runs before and they were all worth it!!!!!

crossed the Atlantic 5 times and around S America...seen plenty...

also overnighted in the Hudson canyon in a 42' ...went out in 2-3ft with a great forecast, came back in 8-10 ft with some 12's thrown in... 4 hr run turns into a 10 hr nightmare. A V20 would have sank- no question about it.
Please be careful. Find a buddy with a bigger boat and give him plenty of gas money and invite him on your redfish trips.

I appreciate your concerns but we are very selective about which days we go. I know that anything can happen but the same could be said for life in general.
Besides, most of my friends are broke and the oil companies have pretty much secured the fact that I won't be owning a sportfisher anytime soon........

Then again........we could run the V20 out 180 miles, run out of fuel, and wait for someone to come along and tow us in.
