Loose Winshield Frame...

I noticed today that my Windshield frame on the port side is loose. Anybody know how its attached? I think that the bedding under the frame is gone...probably factor in the new enclosure and fishing in rough weather with it...I figure that added stress has worked it loose.

So, do I have to remove the glass by taking the whole frame apart?

Thanks

air , mine was loose also I got some 5200 and predrilled a hole throught the edge of the frame and shot some 5200 under drove a 2 inch screww it there let it dry and it stiffened it right up I will take a pic tomorrow and show ya

I hope somebody knows how to take these windsheilds off. My starboard side is loose :( and there is a chunk of gel coat missing under it :( so in order to do a proper repair I need to remove the windsheild.

Use a hammer, works great!!

well I have a 75 and I can see my screws, but I think someone here said on the newer stuff there was something covering the screws?

Get out and look you lazy people!! Can't be to hard to find!

Gee this foot better get better fast!! I am already getting testy!

I can't even see a single screw on mine. I can only assume that the mounting screws are installed thru the lower channel and under the glass.

I gues that is the reel question. Are the screw under the glass and into the fiberglass, or are they through the fiberglass into the frame?

Every walk through windshield I have seen has a black plastic strip on the outside base that can be removed to reveal the screws. Redrill, 5200 and screw.

Slot...is there a way to see under the dash where the windshield sits?...

Here is mine

My port side is loose as well. Gonna shoot some 5200.
It's screwed in. Hard to see from inside the cuddy with that crappy carpet on the ceiling.

OK, since nobody was certain of the answer, I went and found out for myself. Boatnluvr was correct. There is a black plastic strip that pops out, revealing the screws that hold the windshield down.

So now that I know how, what sealant should I use to rebed the windows. 4200?

MJ they make 42 / 5200 both fast and slow. 5200 is for permanent install, while 4200 had less adhesive properties, not permanent. Not sure I ever plan to remove them though.

I like 5200, and it will come off when you want it to, they also make a 5200 remover so no worry mate! ;)

Thank you Boatnluvr. I checked mine and there is that black strip that you spoke of. I can't do anything with it now since the boat is getting the engine mounted now.
