Live well ideas?

I've got an 85 V20 full transom Cuddy with the round in deck "live well" towards the stern of the boat. There is no water intake and it drains into the bilge. Has anyone had any luck getting this to work with two pumps? I know its too low to the water line to let the overflow drain. I'm very against letting the water drain into the bilge.

I was thinking about converting the storage box that the passenger seat is mounted to into a livewell and running a drain hose out the port side via a thru hull. Has anyone done anything like this with any luck?

I'm open to any ideas. I'd hate to clutter my open deck with anything like a cooler..

Thanks!

On previous V20, The storage Box on the port side did have a drain at the bottom which was routed to the outside of the Hull on the port side don't know if this helps you or not

best thing to do is use a above deck tank, let drain into your splash well, you be good to go.

Like the other feller said, put an abovedeck well on board. I made one out of a 30gal. plastic drum and connected it to my washdown with a y-splitter and a recirc pump that, well you guessed it recircs the water and is also used to pump the water overboard instead of into the bilge. Lets see how the picture posting thing goes, please stand by!

Alright, the pic thing aint workin for me. I'll try again at a later date with some fresh pics. Oh,the wells you are talkin about, are they the ones mounted in the transom cap?

I took a 5 gallon bucket and first cut out a door in the top and added a hing. I then drilled an upper hole which I screwed in a 90 degree brass fitting which I attached a hose which ran down the side of the bucket. I used another 90 degree brass fittinng which turned it out with another hose that could fit through my rear floor drain which runs into my splash well. I also drilled another hole on the other side of the bucket which I attached a nipple for a quick release hose fitting. When I need a live well I just snape the hose to my wash down to the bucket and throw on the switch and it works great. I did have to add a peice to the hose from the pump so I could control the water flow.
