Insulated Fish Box ?

I was reading the spec sheet for the 1994 V20 Fish on Wellcraft's site today . It indicated that the boat included an insulated fish box . If my 1994 includes any insulation in the fish box it is very very little . Does anyone have a center console that the forward fish box is insulated ?

There is no way to get any insulation on every side without removing the deck . It's a nice box and drains overboard . A fish bag is an idea . The cooler that I wish were insulated is the bait well under the console seat . That is where I keep my beer . If I ever have the console off for any reason, I'm going to spray some insulation around it .

Labii, on the console, if you can get to the inside to build a damn behind the cooler portion, you could drill a few holes around the cooler top and pour foam in...

labii, i took two of the better styrofoam coolers( the thick ones) and cut the pieces to fit the inside of the fish box on the sides and ends. I attached it to the walls with silicone. I left the bottom alone so it would drain. Not the best solution, but it held ice a lot longer. It usually only last one season, then gets real nasty, but the silicone makes taking it off real easy. I also made a lid out of 1\2 house foam insulation that just lays on the ice, fish, beer, etc. under the deck lid.

Airslot , that is an idea . I have not worked with that pour in foam before . Do you think a rag would work as a dam ? The only part that I would need to pour is the forward part . I think that I should be able to spray the rest . My other option is something like phatdaddy is doing .

I doubt that a rag would work as the foam expands. A heavy piece of cardboard should work. I forgot about the spray can foam, more or less the same stuff and same principle. You could inject a couple cans of foam through holes in the top, leaving the holes open a bit to allow for expansion, then plug the holes.

That would be nice!!

I have a unlimited Ice supply ;D I use both floor tanks as fish boxes.

I bring 100 pounds of ice for a day! As I layer the fish I also layer the ice, and when I get back after a full day, the fish are so cold I have to use a fish pick, cause my hands would be frost bit!!

As for ice, I get it from a fish house after selling my fish. They let you fill up for the next day for free. But they will sell you a 128 qt cooler for $10!

Also around here McDonald's will sell you 10# bag for $1 thats also $10 for 100 pounds.
I call them the night before to see if they have 10 bags ready.

100 pounds will fill a 128 qt cooler.

Joe , We had a 1974 steplift when I was a kid . My dad used the floor boxes all of the time . They held ice held well as long as it was not 90+ deg . We would go out in the fall and stack them full of black bass . The ice in my console might last 45min . on a hot NC day . So short of having another cooler on the boat I'm looking for options.

Have you thought about putting a small soft-side cooler inside your console seat ?
