Inline fuel filter

I am going to replace my inline fuel filter on my 2 stroke Mercury outboard and the inline filters say for 4 stroke motors ,is there a difference?

The inline on the older 2 strokes had barb fittings that clamped in place with wire clamps or small zip ties. The four strokes have a different barb that clips into a special fitting.

I think

Should be able to find plenty of the older ones. Just make sure the one u get has barbs, not the rings with the long nipples.

As far as the filtering element, i don t think there is any difference.

Duke, Im confused about the size, I bought two filters and a 24 inch fuel line from Amazon and put down my motor and it says 5/16 but I think it's 3/8 by the primer bulb . I didn't get to my motor to check cause it's covered for the winter I'm hoping it is 5/16 cause that's what I got But I think 3/8 would be better since its larger Even you said to differant sizes Time will tell unless a mechanic ( spareparts) who really knows his stuff replys but I hope your right too Thanks for the reply

My primer bulb is 3/8 too. So is the fuel line from the tank, and the fuel-water separator. I used the reducer from Amazon to drop down to 5/16 for the connection to the outboard.

I was thinking 3/8 should be better since I have a 150 hp but since you have a 200 hp and have a 5/16 line than I will be good, I think I'm good to go Hey Duke thanks for the advice and help
