If it isnt one thing its another...

Well guys I just installed a new washdown pump and started hookin her up yesterday. I got the wiring done and put the power to everything, but got nothing to several items onboard. I started getting ill and reminding myself of how I SAID I was going to rewire this boat over the winter, but the deer hunting got in the way...AGAIN. ::)

Not long after my trouble shooting got me nowhere I blacked out. When I left the shop last night there was not a wire in the boat and a 55 gallon garbage can FULL of copper. :o

Thatll teach it to mess with me! Time to rewire... ;D

Which reminds me...anyone got that wiring diagram for the fuel gauge/sending unit? If so please post it. ::)

Here is what it looked like...what a MESS!!

I hear ya Blue, but the truth is meat or not Im gonna stick it out till the bitter end. LOL

I am on schedule ok, I dont like to fish when its cool at all. Things are just starting to heat up good round here. 8)

I believe the fuel guage sending unit uses only one wire and a ground. The ground terminal is obvious because it is not insulated. Connect the insulated terminal to the SND (or whatever they call it) terminal on the guage. The gauge should have a input/snd terminal, a +, and a GND. Just wire those up accordingly. There may also be a light on the guage. Bus bars and anything from Blue Sea Systems will make your wiring look professional.

Re: If it isn't one thing its another...

LOL mj...thanks for all the help guys.

I just got back from working on it. I made the new dash out of 1/4" starboard today and installed all new switches, radio housing and the gauges. I got alot done on the wiring but I got alot more to go! :P

Pics when I'm done!

It is a rack and pinion. I think it's an old OMC setup adapted to work with a Volvo 280. The boat was originally OMC. I think it works great, never seizes up, and doesn't require too much effort to turn the boat hard over at full power (it gets pretty firm, though).
