I need advice.

I have a horn facing the bow on the front deck, the problem is that water gets in to it and causes the horn to stop working. I want to face it toward the stern but the hole for the wire won’t line up. Where do you guys put your horn if you have one? Maybe I need to buy a different style horn. I have the horn that you see on trucks. The S.S. Horn

When I got my boat 20 years ago, the horn was a complete gob of rust inside. I took it off, sealed the holes and bought an air horn (the little handheld one with the can of compressed air) - it’s really loud and solves the rust problem.

Yes I hear you. Even though it’s S.S. It still rust inside I have a new horn and am thinking of putting it face down somewhere, but where? I was thinking about mo7nting it facing towards the stern bu5 the hole for the horn will be onnth3 opposite side an$ I don’t want to keep putting holes in my upper forward deck

I agree, more holes are not good. Maybe bend a piece of aluminum or stainless steel and make a bracket with holes that match the existing deck holes, or just make a block of Teak, Ipe or some other good rot resistant wood, screw it down and mount the horn on that?

remove the horn, repair the holes, keep a whistle and a hand held airhorn on board. The whistle will keep you from getting a ticket, the air horn will do better than most horns on boats
