Buy it and hang on to it until next boating season. Scrub her good and clean up the bottom and outdrive. That thing will command a good price. Wish I was in position to come get it, but then again. Me and JERSEY boats don't jive.

It looks to be a 81-85 WELLCRAFT 248 SPORTSMAN with the 2 1/4 births in it and a older VOLVO outdrive set-up on it. Almost what I've been lookin for(I want MERCRUISER instead of VOLVO).

of the sportsman, coastal, or fisherman, which is the prefered model? [ say it were to used 15% family fun, 85% serious fishing fun]

If your using it for day trips, the coastal would probably be your best bet. I want the sportsman myself, but I'll be doing overnighters with my other half. So cabin space will be welcome for me. The coastal has a nice BIG! cockpit in it for diving and fishing, or for storing gear on outings. The sportsman has a much roomier cabin with a step up helm arrangement. And the fisherman is a center console with a cuddy in the very bow.

thanks ferm, now I know. It would have to be the coastal for me. Regardless, for 2,000$ I'd be on that sportsman in a heartbeat.....get it lumber, that a nice boat at a great price !

What a sweet Deal, Why cant I find deals like that. Should be a law against deals like that, not unless it involves me though. ;D
Grab it and run. NOW. ;D

that boat is usually on the market for at least $7500! We paid $3500 for a 1986 250 Sportsman with twin yamaha's (sadly) that wasn't in near the good of condition as that boat.

I use to fish off one of them, Great Boat, takes seas great!! Lots of cabin room!

As for a fishing boat there are better set ups out there, but for fishing and weekending this is a great boat, the kids wil love it!

Go for it!
