Hypothetical question

Say I find a V20/21 (cuddy) to buy, but there's no trailer or it's junk. So I buy a trailer* to go pick it up.

*maybe new, maybe used; maybe bunk, maybe roller; definitely tandem

Can you make any recommendations as to how to configure/adjust the trailer beforehand and without having the boat, simply by knowing the hull's peculiarities? An example would be center of gravity. I'm only looking at outboards (both flavors: on-transom or seadrive/bracketed) in the 140-200hp range. Someone with lots of time around the hull might know that with a 140, the rig is bow heavy, so to get proper tongue weight, you might recommend I keep the winch post back a little. Knowing-what-you-know type stuff is what I was looking for... any advice to make it safer to pick up a boat and get it home. Naturally, you'd adjust as necessary once I had it.

Much obliged,
Will
