Hi, Im new and looking for help in VA

HAHA!! Dont worry, just a great friend and her friends (my daughter is only 6!)....these ladies are 20 something. I'll have to work on a larger sig pic for ya!

Better yet, load em up this summer and head on over across the pond into Nassawadox Creek!

Thanks Dave. I spoke with Matt yesterday and he seemed like a real stand up guy. The boat sounds structurally solid and the trailer seemed adequate as well. the only concern was the interior condition since he had no pictures of it and of course the brite green prop. lol. is there any way you could swing by and grab a pic or two of the cockpit area and give the boat a lookin over?

Ok guy's I just read this post and guess what? That boat is less than 3 minutes from me! I know Matt & his family very well....I did see a Wellcraft out by rt 13 for sale but didn't connect the dots until now...I just got off the phone with Matt so Fishnfetch if you want to pursue this one let me know....but I'm not taking any money.....................Ha! You guys forgot about me living here on the Shore...I thought at least ole Reel would tune in...must be oldtimers settin in!! Ha!

Reel was highly instrumental in me purchasing my pristine 21 down there in Spartenburg so now I get to return the favor to another member here....aint that what this site is all about??

Hey Dave...good call...you're truly one of the V20 Brothers...but then I knew that all along...maybe a little "old timers" on occasion, but not this time...

Ha! Yeah buddy.......I don't get on here as much as I would like but something was telling me to log on last night and then I read the post.......I knew I had to know who owned that boat.....D

DMOORE YOU ROCK!

Very cool....that explains the cowling. Didn't know if maybe the year model on the motor was a typo or somehting so this explains it. Chalk up another win for the V20(1) brotherhood! Here here...

1979 v20

Ok Andy here are your pics...........This V is solid throughout but will need some TLC to shine.....I removed the engine cowl so you could get a better idea of the motor condition...since outward appearance doesn't always tell the whole story rule number one when buying a used outboard motor would be to ask for a compression check...I don't know if this has been done but I believe Matt stated in the Craigslist ad that the compression was in fact good. There is some cracking of the gelcoat at the bow flare areas of which I documented, also a small area on the port aft gunnel where the gelcoat has worn thru, not a deal breaker by no means....like I said some TLC is needed like any fiberglass boat that is upwards of 32 years old....

Trailer is sized correctly for an outboard powered boat of this size & weight and has one year old axle installed..trailer tires look very road worthy with no apparent blemishes.

All the glass & windshield look to be in very good shape...I did not unfold the bimini top but what I did see appeared to be in good condition.

If I missed any areas that are of concern let me know and I will get those posted up. Dave

Wow Dave, that's a real beauty. I especially like the stainless steel support brackets on the windshield. Nice touch.

Good job on being able to help a future cult member!!
now about that top, i'm sure the boys at the factory never had that in mind when they designed the V,
so how bout i come up and take it off your hands for you, i'm sure your ride and mpg will improve.
jk, sweet set up, but i will come get it if your tired of people bugging you about it...

Wow! You guys have some bad memories! This is the V I sold about 4 years ago! Its still in the V20 Gallery............and I thought you guise was sharp! HA! But I always welcome positive comments! I do miss her, especially those swivel seats....the 21 don't do that :(...she went to a diver in Virginia Beach....haven't seen it since......I had a lot of time and $ in her.....feel free to ask questions...I may have the answer! D

Dang Dave thats one sharp lookin V you got there! Whatcha got under tha hood? I see that Alpha hanging out back. V6?

She was born and still had a 165 Mercruiser (250 straight six Chevy)I replaced the tired engine with a Jasper unit.....replaced the complete sterndrive unit with a Sterndrive Engineering assy...they are out of Fla......I guess they are still around...the only problem with that outdrive which I called and complained about was the poor paint adhesion...the short time I used before selling it had started to bubble around most of the edges...they admitted to the problem saying some units were painted during heavy Fla humidity,,,,Gee I thought that was normal down there! Hmmmmm, maybe I'll google em and see if their still around.....anyone heard of em?? D

Thanks Reel! I do my best!

I know you do, Dave...just as I was postin' the business about a stablemate for the 21, it started slowly comin' back to me that you had a stern-drive you had parted with...I almost canceled the post and I said, "Naaa!!"...and went on w/it...glad you set the record straight!!...
