Hey Chum.....

Yep, the area of the frame in between the can and bed has had some rot issues. And TOYOTA is trying to step up and keep this from sinking there ship. They have had quite a few quality issues here as of late, most believe that TOYOTA cut corners to pass GM as the #1 US automobile and figured they would take of the problems later when they came up. And I couldn't own something that said TuRD right on it.

are they rusting away? was the metal frame they used too thin?:head: is anyone sure what years? cause i am looking to buy a used one

90's through to early 21st century is said to be affected. It isn't a recall, but if yours is rotting out they will buy it back. I haven't paid much attention to it myself, but from what I have read they didn't coat the steel with any corrosion protection and they are simply rusting out. It also has to do with how they formed them as well, but not up on the details.

hey parish, where on the island?
got a couple hours on sunday to fish?
i'm going in on saturday and if all goes well i'll be out at one of the local reefs on sunday.

parish, i just re-read your post.
if you will be in the south shore nassau county area, call me.
516 889-6212.
if you dont get a human just leave a message.

CTT, I'll somewhat agree with MJ on the AVALANCHE. When I was a salesman for CHEVY, I hated those things. To much wasted space in them for me. If your considering the AVALANCHE, just get the SUBURBAN. There the same exact thing for the most part except for the body. They both have the same drivetrain and wheelbase.

CTT, I'll let you know tomorrow where I will be,
but it looks like no fishing time.

Wedding on Saturday and then back to Pa on Sunday to pack for Japan.

CY, I could tell you the whole story, but my lips are sealed due to extenuating circumstances.

No they do not.
Luckily I was not an engineer on this program.

CTT - I will be staying at a Holiday Inn in Plainview and the wedding is at
a country club in Jericho.

oh well, raincheck.

that goes for all you homos. ya'll find yerselves on the island call me and we go fishing.

ferm, i need the bed and dont really wanna drive a dinosaur.

howbout the explorer sport trak. . . they still make that thing?

i like the idea of something a bit more economical but if all else fails i go avalanche.

4 doors a must.

bed a must.

good mileage dont hurt either.

and i need an auxiliary port to plug in my ipod.

Hey CTT, you can go to radio shack or somewhere like that and get a cigarette light plug in auxillary ipod port.....or just buy a General Motors vehicle.......like an Avalanche.

Hey CY, Ive gotta 97 Tacoma 4wd with 228000 miles .Its gotta 3.4liter v6 engine and automatic transmission ,extra cab. It tows my V just fine, but has a little trouble stopping it. I just added a set of Kodiak disc brakes and a new acuator and can stop like a champ now.Its been a great truck with never any problems at all. I drive it about 75 miles a day back and forth ta work and it gets around 22 mpg. Ive got 4 toyotas,2 forerunners,a 72 Land Cruiser and my Tacoma and have had great service outta these trucks.
:hi:

Nah, I love my old truck! Its been really good ta me. I would'nt think twice about buying another one just like it. Dose'nt burn a drop of oil and is pretty good on gas. Ive kept it serviced well and it pays off in the long run. I change the oil with Havoline 10w-30 and a toyota filter every 3000 miles.
:hi:
