I just got back from paying my dad a visit out at Calverton Nat'l Cemetery here on Long Island. Pvt. 1st. class United States Army, Korea, purple heart recipient. He is out there four years now and I [we] see him 3-4 times a year....on fathers day I always go alone.....that one I keep for myself, and dad. To all you NortonSnaggers out there have a wonderful fathers day.
As Willy would call them, my two "Super-Models-In-Training" are still sleeping soundly ... youngest off today to Soccer Camp for week ... oldest just back from week at Sunset Bch (1st trip there w/out growed-ups : ) ...
So my Father's Day won't start til the two sleepy-heads roll out ...
...but to all you guys that make this such a great place to visit...Happy Father's Day 8) ... here's hopin' ya have a goodun!! ;D ;D ...
I lost my father when I was 16, he was a Merchant Marine and was aboard the USS Fogg 10 miles of the coast of Galveston doing some work on the engines when something in the empty tanker blew and halved the ship and sent her to the bottom, 33 fathers gone that day. I understand it is a major reef for diving today.
Every fathers day and every New Years Eve I get off somewhere for a few minutes and have a chat and tip a toast to him. Seems like a lot of fathers are gone way to early.
Enjoy your families and enjoy your life, take every oppurtunity to do both and in the end that is what you will be remembered for.
So to all you Snaggers, have a good one, hug the kids, kiss the wife spank a super model or two, cast a pole swing a club and look up because there are a lot of good men looking down on us.
My dad is still alive at 70 and is pretty much house bound do to a broken neck he got some 18 years ago, but we do talk every week! He lives in Vermont for the last 30 years.
Hammer, I typed in error, I was thinking of several of the ships he worked on during war time and peace. The ship he was killed on was the V.A. Fogg which is a tanker. Site for the dive info below. http://www.exploreuw.com/sc05003.htm
