Yeah it wasn't too bad here in Wilmington, but it was pretty bad for a tropical storm. I went down to the marina at 11:30pm Friday. It was an hour before high tide and the water was almost over our bulkheads. We had three to four foot waves rolling down the creek and breaking over our first dock. We had a couple boats that didn't double lines and they broke free and rubbed against the bumper piles. Other than that we had a bunch of sea grass all over the hill, and a bunch of tiny limbs, leaves, and shells everywhere. We only got about an inch and half of rain, but we had sustained winds up to 70 mph. Even lost the power for several hours. Just another tropical thunderstorm, but a healthy one though.
And speaking about the media, we have a "no comment" policy at our marina. We used to talk to the news papers and tv people, but after the skewing they love to do to make up a news story, we just kick them off our property. We actually had the people from the Weather Channel call us on the Thursday before landfall asking if they could do a broadcast from our marina, and we just told them no thanks, and no comment on our storm preparations.
