But in the end I threw him out of the yard!! I have sent him tons of pic's, Video of it running, told him about all the service and he comes in the yard wanting to hear it run, so I had to fill a barale with water to defrost the hose to run motor, Then he started to say that from putting the cover on and off the plastic that covers the spark plugs was scratched, then he starts that the latches that hold the cover on have paint worn off a little, then my son removes the plastic cover on the control to get them off the boat, there is a tiny piece of rubber that covers one of the screws, it has two small nipples on it to hold in, one nipple is missing, he complains about it. Then he wants to do a compression test on a cold motor as the hose is still frozen, comes up with 112 to 115 on all cyl and says that its not in Yamaha spec's. Says he has the same motor and its on another boat, its tighter and in better shape then mine and mine is getting old, said I miss represented the motor to him as it is older and loser then I said, all with out it ever running! I said its a tight motor, here is all the service records like I said I had, I said it was a 2002 so what did I lie about?? As far as a few starches and the worn paint on the latches it is perfect for a 0 year motor, then he said he drove 6 hours to get here to look at it and will I take $3000, I said nope I did not feel right selling him a junk motor and he should get the **** out of my yard and back to NJ before my son kicks his a$$!! Which my son wanted to do!@! he said dad I was being nice to him cause you wanted to sell the motor, but he was trying to get me to tell him a different price and saying all kinds of stuff.
I am disappointed cause I meed the cash!! But at the same time happy cause I don't want to sell it any way!! I have one guy that came to look at it for 30 seconds and said he was looking for a Honda, so why you here?? Also had a few offers from 3k to 3500 with out looking, but I am not letting it go for that cheap!

Ok I am done just needed to let off some steam after that guy!

Now did I lie about anything?? Did I represent a 10 year old motor properly?

Here is my add:

2002 Yamaha 200 HDPI is a 25" shaft, No issues with the motor, it is a 2002 with about 700 hours. I had the motor all tuned, and VST system serviced last fall with 666 hours on it, and know I did not put 40 hours on it this year. Includes all controls, cables, gauges, wiring and oil tank.
Here is a video of it on are last trip out this fall in Oct. My boat is a 23" Sea Ox Cuddy, Any other questions just ask, Thanks Joe

I know how you feel MJ, everyone thinks they can get a better deal after watching pickers, or pawn stars or any of those show, they feel like they have to beat you down regardless of what its worth. When I was selling my proline, I had people try to tell me it needed this and it needed that, i told them i had just replaced this and that and it was brand new, or I had just serviced it. I had people tell me they needed it checked out by a professional, i told them i was a professional and i would be happy to check it out while they watched every thing i did, when they said they wanted their guy to do it, i asked who their guy was, odds were they were friends of mine. I told them to call their guy on the phone and tell them who was selling it, they would tell them not to worry about having it checked out as i was stand up guy. They would call while i was standing there. I walked in the house and left two guys standing in the yard after I got tired of hearing their BS. All it came down to, they wanted to give me nothing for my boat, the guy who ended up buying it was a good friend of one of my best friends, my friend called me and asked what my bottom dollar was, i told him, his friend called me to ask about the boat, I told him what he needed to know, I told him if he had any intention of offering any lower than I told him, not to waste my time, the price was firm, if he wasted my time, the price went up, he bought the boat for what i told him and has been pleased with it. I haven't heard a complaint from him about it, I still sold it too cheap, wish I would have kept it, but oh well, its gone and now I've got to get back to work on the V

MJ Ive told them the same thing!! get the hell off my property!!!! hmmm how much you want for that motor? what does shipping cost? lol!! just kidding.

MJ that's the kind of A-hole if you were askin' $25 for the motor would want it for $15...you didn't do anything wrong...skaroo him and I hope he has the squirts in his pants 15 mins into his 6 hr drive...

Mj I hate you had to deal with something like that. I believe your motor is priced right. If my credit were not screwdd with the car I bought I would have bought it. But when I talked to the bank about it they told me to go to hell! Keep your head up and dont back down!

MJ, first off, that guy was lying... I make that drive at least 4 times a year to visit my sis in law... 5 hours tops.. Second, your price is more than fair.. even if there were issues with the engine, that's still a great price.
Tell people in your ad that the price is FIRM, in capital letters, and to not waste your or their time trying to haggle price.

Oh, and we need some kind of password to view your youtube vid of the engine.

And like RW said "F'ing Jersey douche bags!........ " Can't trust a one of them... :fight:

NJ guy

MJ, you did right & you know it, guys like that are never satisfied, you did the right thing, tell him to get out & forget about the slug. I've had the same problem before & have learned that once they start picking, it's time to tell them to roll.
Wish you were closer, it's a 20 hour drive for me.
Doug

Thanks guys!! I just hate selling stuff and people like this make it even worse!

Here is the youtube, it was on privet some how

was his name Aussie kidding im joking

Sounds like you represented the motor just fine. You cant expect perfection on a used motor with that many hours. Either he was insane or just looking to lowball you. In the end you won! He wasted a day on a long trip and didn't get a motor. Bad Karma is coming his way. The motor he does get will probably blow up the first time he runs it. Hang in there. Eventually you'll get it sold and for the right price.

well that guy is the dickhead for driving all that way and its his loss did you have the motor listed as new we get them here too they come and want things for nothing dam and its winter your way i would of told him to leave soon as he said theres paint missing the problem is people thing that others are fools like themselfs--i had a guy drive 700miles to see my boat and i told him dont blame me if your not happy with it had the engine in a tub when he came i gave him the keys said go look at it and i sat inside till he was done he took well he would have to be a dick if he didnt and same thing i told him before he left this is the price dont come and try and get it for less---boats motors are easier to sell in fishing season over here dont worry about people like him and i hope the next buyer has a little more brains

MJ - It'll sell. Tax return season is right around the corner and the boat shows will get people thinking about things other than the holidays. You knew that NJ guy was a unreasonable nut job before he set foot in your yard. He probably didn't have the money. Don't waste anymore energy stewing over Craigslist crazy people . . . Put it up on ebay :)

I had a guy from NY do the same to me on a GW Sailfish I sold a few years ago. Insisted the boat had been modified because he knew the transom was made of solid steel...just like a Parker. lol

Thanks everyone!! I am not worried I know it will sell, But I am trying to get out of my house and buy a mobile home, Found a great one that you would never know was a mobile!! I am $3000 short on there asking price and they are not moving. I have to get rid of some bills and this is the single best way, I am $3k short buying it cash and having no mortgage, so getting rid of this $1200 a month bill will be huge!
Here is a pic of the mobile home
