Got my first V20, She's a beauty

The story on this boat is that it was purchased new in 1990 then the owner passed away in 1994. The boat was kept covered and used sparingly since then. I bought it from the owners elderly widow. It needed a good cleaning when I got it but I couldn't be more pleased with how it cleaned up.

I forget what prop I'm running rite now but its gets to bout 44 - 46 mph and I usually cruise at 32-35
My marine mechanic says I can try out some props he has at the shop to get a little more speed if I want.

I went from a merc 150 2s to the new 150 4s. Actually increased wot by a little- 38mph to 42mph. Hole shot was biggest difference. Hard to describe, but the boat felt more "nimble" with the 2s. Also think the boat rides deeper in the v when on plane with the 4s.

The boat feel like it's in 4wd all the time verses 2wd. Not a bad feel, just different.

While it seems you've found the unicorn 26 year old hull with dry bones, I'd eliminate that trim on the transom and cap with glass, just to eliminate a future issue.

Nice find!!!

Thanks phatdaddy, good advice on that plastic trim. I noticed that this plastic trim was between the motor and transom before and I see in the installation manual that is not right. I was planning to remove any parts of the trim that might interfere with the new motor.

I have the same boat and absolutely love it. great ride in the chop and it rides very steady in the wind with the trolling motor. Most boats ive been in get blown off course when trying to troll slow speeds (.4 mph) in the wind. Blew up my 175 merc and put a 1998 200 hp ocean pro on it. When I took the old motor off the holes looked like they were just drilled. Transom was solid and dry as can be.
