That's right. Just made the deal over the telephone - boat, motor and trailer for $150 - trailer needs new tires.

Its a 13 ft Skiff - model unknown (will know when I pick up). She's 13ft long and over 5ft wide. Its a whaler style hull. She's equipped with a mid - 60's model 33hp Johnson sea horse which was tastefully removed and stored on the deck of this luxurious ship amongst about 20 lbs of leaves, rotten wood flakes, and a 12 pk of Natural Light circa 1999 scattered evenly around the spacious cockpit.

Its a true beauty. The transom seems shot, the front bulkhead under the "casting deck" is rotten as dirt and I can see some other issues - one of them is a possible rotten floor and stringers ;D I can't wait to hone in my boat working skills on this guniea pig :D

First things first - this evening I will stop by Wally world and pick up some new wheels and tires. Next I will tow her home and get some good "before" pix in her current state. Then I will mount the motor on a stand and clean the hull out completely. Then it will be picture time again.

Next I will check her out and assess what she needs - floor, stringers, bulkhead etc. I may need some help knowing what order to tackle these projects in. I'm thinking floor and stringers needs to be addressed first and foremost.

Will have pics either this evening or tomorrow morning!!

I found a pic online of a 13ft whaler with the same motor as the skiff I bought so here is something similar to the boat I bought:

THIS IS NOT THE BOAT I BOUGHT, BUT SIMILAR w/ SAME MOTOR!!

Yep, Skools Jr. for sure - thats who I thought of when I posted above ::) Although this isn't a true Skool's out deal...If I were Skools the guy would have paid me $150 to take it! ;)

lol hey BR you've been hanging around me to much, ok see you could have gotten my 16 ft dixie soon i almost have it done an running like new. ;D

You my friend are a man of many boats LOL!

I'll be lucky to get this 13ft fixed up. I think it will be a great learning experience. The old lady tried to tell me this morning that she didn't understand the need for this 2nd boat. I f*'d up a little bit by telling her I want a smaller boat in order to save money on fishing trips. I told her it costs $300 ++ just to take my boat on a weekend fishing trip. $150 round trip fuel in the Yukon, plus $130 in boat fuel, plus $40 bait and ice, and a man's gotta eat too. She DID NOT REALIZE how expensive this fishing hobby was until today :-[

That said, I think she understands the need for the 2nd boat now :-/

those lil whaler look alikes are great..wish i could find me one for that price...i just towed my 14ft alum back from La. to rig up for freshwater.....get them pics up! oh and what you told your wife will come back to haunt you one day lol manlaw rule #324 never tell the ladys how much fishing ACTUALLY cost! lol

good score br Ive owned 3 whalers a 13 a 15 and a 17 all were great boats so if this is designed like a whaler it will be an easy and fun restore ,,,,,, good luck brother ;D

Well, don't get your hopes up yet brothers!  There ain't much she don't need that's for sure!  I figure if the boat has to be junked I can at least sell the motor and keep the trailer for a jon boat later on...

Heck I might find some goodies buried deep down below the pile of leaves and natural lights...you never know - maybe even some black widow spiders!  :o

She's got some potential but that's all she has right now!

And BTW its definitley not a Del Quay. I saw the name on the side, meant to get pics and remember the name but forgot. I'll know this evening!

Thanks all!

Well I did get it paid for but did not get it home.  Wally world no longer carries trailer tires!  So I took the rims and will see about getting tires put on tomorrow morning.

...I also forgot to mention - there is a small gum tree sapling growing in the middle of the boat!  ;D  But I plan to make her into a real head turner one day....I have a vision  ::) I know I'm crazy!

Ok here she is!  Be kind and don't laugh at me too hard OK?

Yeah well I'll prolly have to...that little spot where the tree is growing is where all the leaf-dirt and rotted wood flakes are laying.  I'm sure the tree is growing there for a reason - major moisture!

This was my intro for the rebuild...I'll move future pics and commentary over to the repairs section with a complete before and after (in about 5 years  ;D)

Skools I'm gonna need your help buddy...some guidance and instructions.  I'll post pix and ask lots of questions  ;)

1st question - do you think there are stringers under the floor?

Also, forgot to mention. Its a Salem Skiff made by AmFab mid to late 60's model. Not a whole lot of em around apparently as my google search didn't come up with but a handful.

I gotta tell ya, that is going to be a sweet boat. ;) ;)

A little bit of elbow greese and hopefully the floor will just need some
plywood.

For $150.00, I love deals like that.

Speaking of deals, I just have to put this in,
I was driving buy a house that people were cleaning out
and happened to see an old bicycle in teh dumpster.
Now my younger son collects old bikes,
so of course, with permission from the people,
I went dumpster diving.
I offered the people money, but they said no, the stuff is being pitched anyway.
Sent some pix to my son, the bike is a 1952 Schwinn Panther,
it is in rough condition, but the front disk brakes alone are going
for $200.00 on e-bay.

Here is a pic from my cell phone:

WOW, a diamind in the ruff, covered by more ruff ;D
It actually has a nice set up for fishing and probably can float in no water @ all.
Good luck!

Sweeet bike Parish - nice price too!

Thanks Shawn!

Well, so far my research is showing that this hull probably doesn't have stringers but is likely filled with closed cell foam and probably water logged. I won't know if its water logged until I can get the motor out of and see how heavy it is. If waterlogged I would be faced with getting the water out or ripping everything out and going back in with new wood stringers and floor. I will just have to wait and see....gotta get it home first!

That looks like a cool little boat BR......good luck with her.

Cool old bike there Parish.

Thanks RB.

I dropped off the old rims at B&M Tire this morning. He'll have a new set of 4.80 x 8's on there tomorrow morning. Gonna set me back $50 bones. So now I'll have $200 in this rig. The bad part is I'll have to wait another day to bring it home. I was hoping to drag it home today.
