GOOD NIGHT, Irene!!

Haven't been on lately, been real busy rushing to get all our yards mowed. Started Wednesday finished today cut a total of 70 acres.

I've had 2 of my tractors and my Bobcat building Berms around homes and business's, working round the clock. Finished all the places we had.

I'm smiling, I'm gonna be like the plastic surgeons who put implants in women and then everyone found out they are bad for their health and had them removed and replace with the new stuff.

Pay me to put them, pay me to take them out!! MONEY MONEY!!!:sun::beer:

We're all buttoned up and have things tied down. Boats out of the water and in garages. Had the big propane tank filled so the whole home generator (15K) shouldn't run out.

Able to talk Mom and Dad to go to Raleigh and stay with my daughter. Our daughter-in-law and grandson coming over here to stay with us.
So were committed to stay.

P/s Fema called and told us to leave and not to call 911 after 3pm tomorrow because they wouldn't be able to respond to us. Don't understand that but then WHO UNDERSTANDS GOVT????

Mr. Krinkle was hoping for a quiet weekend with some glow sticks and the main muff but doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Man I don't want to be the one to tell him!! :bat::fight:

stay safe in upper NC tonight and tomorrow. Maybe when this is all said and done we can get together and head out in the Albemarle Sound in the V

Where's RWilson??...:head:...anybody heard from Rob in all this?...hope him and his crew are dug in good or got the hell outta Dodge!!..:sand:

i always use the v for a 60 gallon storage tank. have 2 gensets, one for the house lights and one for the window units in bed rooms. gas stove and gas hotwater, so we're in pretty good shape, hadn't needed it it a couple of years, but got it ready.

garage, couple of years ago we had a state rep get on tv and announce if you haven't left by noon, write your name on a piece of paper and put it in your pocket so they could id the body. i'd rather die in my living room than stuck in a car on I-10.
you guys stay safe.

I'm with you on that P Daddy.

There was a wreck today on the bridge from the outer banks to currituck a family of 4, killed the driver and 1 girl was airlifted to the hospital. They were on their way home due to the mandatory evacuation, if they had stayed 1 would be alive and the other not fighting for her life.

Nah....we're in good shape out where I live...I'm 22 miles west of the city....no threat obviously of storm surge and in very hilly terrain so no threat of flooding.....only concern is a couple of BIG *** oak trees on our neighbors property that would waffle my house or boat or garage depending on where it came down if it ever did.... they are healthy as horses so I think its a long shot and not much you can do about that if its gonna happen....gonna all sleep in the basement tomorrow night (we finish our basements up here so its just another floor of the house) just in case....It is going to be interesting to say the least I think....i agree that its going to be like a prolonged nor'easter but I think the fact that there's leaves on the trees as opposd to winter storms is going to make it a whole different experience.....

Got one of our gas welders with electrical outlets for in case the power goes out so we should be pretty cozy.

Hey Lee, looks like we're gonna get hit pretty hard. I'm prepared as I can get, 60 gallons of gas for the three generators, two freezers FULL of vegtables, and all the hatches battened down. I've got plenty of plywood, tarpaper and tarps. We shutdown Nucor while ago and they told me not to come back to start it up till midday Sunday. My buddy's gonna ride it out at his house in Kitty Hawk, hope we all make it through this OK. Another close friend lives in Collington, I'm pretty sure he's gonna stay too. My wife and I took the V out this past Wednesday to the 17 bridge and caught big Whiteperch, Croakers, Catfish and some big crabs. Had a great time, hope to do it again soon. Best of luck to ALL you fellas in this storm!

don't know about a hurricane up north, but down here, the worst part is the day after, sooooo stinking hot. after the storm goes through, the air is just still & saturated.

best part is watching the power transformers blow as the wires arc.

i am more afraid of the tornado's in the feeder bands than the actual storm...

Yea C hope you do OK glad it has weakened but were still going to go thru the entire hurricane in lieu of the outskirts of one.
Were starting to get it now. Hurricane just made landfall at 7:30am at Wilmington. about 80 miles south of us right at 100mph winds.

Satellite went out, expecting the eye to be here about noon today. Rain started yesterday about 5pm and hasn't stopped yet. Expecting between 9-14 inches of rain.

Water in my creek is going out hope it stays that way.

We're having gusts now up to 70mph with sustained at 50mph.

I'll try to give reports as it get here until my internet goes out.

well its supposed to be here today, was already under tornado warning from about 3:30am till about 5 am dont think its gonna do squat. just like flloyd and isabelle, that nor'easter did more damage then both of them put together. its already supposed to be down to 80mph sustained by the time it reaches here. oh well we will see what happens. got gas for the generators and my two year old is stocked up on slim jims "Meat" and yoo-hoo's "woohoooooo" I doubt it will be as bad as alot of the nor'easters you guys up north have had, but better to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. sad to say it but maybe this storm is just the flush to obamas economic toilet.

Stay safe, Krinkle...

Just went thru the 1st bands of wind and rain but the eye is still about 50 miles south of hatteras. Probably will be getting to us at 2pm. 1 piece of flashing on my garage door came loose I removed it to put back on later. 1 small tree down and a couple more leaning. Wind is pushing the water out of my creek but the ditches are filling with water from the rain. Know more later as the main part gets to us.
