Gas prices going up....

Yep what he said! Everyone complaining, but I have cars passing me on the highway like I am standing still, and thats at 70 mph !

Its going to go $5 but by next week I don't think so??

Yeah lets just stop using gas, and stop fishing, and stop boating, and stop driving, and stop hunting, and stop working...hey, wait this just might work out. We could even put sails on our V20s. HMMMM...

I'm going to buy a conversion kit to run my outboard on water,
then I have all the fuel I need right under the hull.

HE.ll yeah!!! I figure when it gets to the point where I'm working to pay for the gas to get to work, I'm just gonna give up, steal a nice big sailboat and become a pirate. I'll take what I need when I need it, just go up and down the oceans of the world wanting for nothing.

As long as we keep using it, they are gonna keep raising the price.

what would you suggest randle.

i have it easy. i'm 2 blocks from the train station and dont even burn 2 gallons a week commuting.
my wife is about 2.5 miles from work and doesnt work in the summer.
the beach is 100 yards from my house and thats where she and the kids spend most of their summer.
the boat is (will be) docked about 2 miles from my house.
my parents are about 2 miles from me.

AND. . . . . i'm still struggling financially.

we spend about $500. a week or more in groceries and these kids are getting hungrier every day.
not to mention these new york taxes.

but i hafta fish and boat and beach and cruise.

so there is no easy answer.

As promised, I spent Saturday at the dock on maintenance and repairs, and listening to all the boats running up and down the ICW. I swear, one would never know that fuel prices were up from this time last year, judging by the number of boats out. I told my wife when I got home that I thought I was listening to the Indy 500 on radio!

Sunday and Monday were our days to spend on the water. Off we went, around the point of our little neighbor island and up into a nearby creek, away from the main channel and its compliment of cruisers, skiers, PWCs and assorted idiots. Dropped the hook, opened the cooler, went for a swim, and while the wife read I fished a bit. Blue skies, nice breeze. Not much biting, so I nodded off . . .
Oh, yeah. Time to pull the anchor and head in. Tied up, checked the log: 5 miles round-trip.

Monday we shoved off, wifey asks, "How's our fuel?" I replied, "Same as yesterday!" and off we went on the same 5-mile tour.

Life Beez Good.

There is no easy answer at all.

But there are little things we all can do....last month I decided that I would drive the speed limit all the time....I know, I know, I'm already supposed to do that to set an example, but I have always drove 7-8 mph over the limit on the highway.

Well I have been getting 2 mpg better since I started doing this.....if everyone did this, then it would make a big difference in demand.

Also, I can't help but notice that 90 percent of cars on the road during "rush" hour have ONE person in them, if just two people would share a ride, it would be a huge cut in demand.

The big things (hydrogen fuel cell cars, electric plug in cars, ethanol made from SUGAR instead of corn) will have to come from big corporations and big government. Did you know that Brazil imports little or no oil because they use the most efficient crop to make ethanol for their fuel needs, but the government here is in the pockets of big business here so we keep trying to use one of the least efficient crops, corn.

CTT, I know the feeling, I spend a lot more on groceries than I'd like to think about. All I can tell you is that if we keep doing nothing different, it aint gonna change any way but for the worse.

Uh... but its no better down here in the south so yous guys stay up there in the north, ok.

There are MANY things that could be done to cut our oil usage in HALF, yes HALF. Problem being there are to many politics in our our wonderful attorney driven society, and don't anybody understand politics better than an attorney under our current system. Heads need to roll to fix this problem, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

sounds like you got it all taken care of Pipe........... referring to your weekend I mean

Yea Bush is to blame :you:

Real quick, here we go - demand for fuel in all its form has gone up over 60% the past three decades in spite of our more efficient use of it.

We are currently, as per the US Energy Commission sitting on oil reserves bigger than any previously known in Alaska, and numerous locations within our territorial limits off shore. Along with being in direct competition with the USSR for huge reserves discovered in the polar regions to which they have all ready started to claim.

Over the past thirty years in response to the energy demands the US Congress controlled the majority of the time by the democratic socialist party of the US. has either thru direct down votes and over regulation or when not in power thru the use of the courts along with the enviromental groups has prevented the oil companies from building any new refineries. Not one has been built. Not feaking one.

That is why over the past thirty years those who use diesel fuel have paid premiums for their fuel even though it is substantially less refined than gasoline. And due to the popularity of diesel engines in all types of vehicles the past decade diesel now is much more expensive than gasoline. That is because the capacity to refine it has not been allowed to increase. And the oil companies demand for gasoline has has grown so much that they will not shift refining priorities to diesel.

All over the world small diesels in trucks and cars dominate the landscape due to their longevity, their fuel effieciency and THE LOWER COST OF DIESEL FUEL.

Due to the same wonderful sh!tbirds listed above, we have also not drilled for any new wells in the areas we have in the continental US. So therefore not only do we not have the capability to refine the oil but we also do not have any of our OWN oil to produce. We purchase it from all our wonderful allies around the world at a premium and for whatever they decide it is worth.

To make matters worse the greatest nation in the world for the past thirty years has not made any substantial energy policy with the eye to scientific overcoming of the dependance on fossil fuel. A country that can put a man on the moon cannot come up with a alternative fuel vehicle to meet the demands of the population.
we can however use our considerable intelligence(?) to regulate and stifle the automotive industry, the electonics industry, the energy based companies into abandoning the American work force to the Pushpa region of the world.
We can use our Orwellian ability to regulate to keep vehicles available the world over that provide reliable powerful and extremely efficient economy to the peoples everywhere else for their work transportation recreation from entering the shores of the U.S due to the extra part per million CO2 they produce.
See Democratic/Socialist/U.S Courts/Enviromental Waco Org.'s above
And the greed of the Oil companies Automotive industry And Republican Politicians who are owned by them for not demanding the above mentioned vehicles in the U.S.

If you think they are to blame and that is what you think I am saying you are quite wrong.

There is only one group to blame in this country and that is the sheep that vote here. Those who vote because of one issue, whether religion, 2nd amendment, abortion, teachers union, auto workers union, government handouts, state workers pendions, etc. etc. ad nauseam.

Because of these sheep our country is being manipulated by professional manipulators who use our passions for these issues and our beliefs to fragment us into groups to cater to. And to fool.
Because we are not standing up as Americans with a strong voice and booting there dead arses out of office.
We are to blame

Shame on us

Ok Willy, who do we vote for in this election?

I for one am regitered as no party affiliation,
I TRY to read up as much as I can on candidates,
but they are all crooks (Willy, arrest that man or woman)
and we don't find out until they are in office.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

I'm voting for WILLY!!!

And then after the election, I'm going to get a "Don't blame me, I voted for Willy" bumpersticker.

There is no good answer I am afraid, we need a third party type candidate. The Barack situation will literally send this company into a downfall of epic size.
The McCain senario while better is no great shakes either. As a matter of fact the only reason a great many americans will vote for him is because of his valiant service to this country.
And they are holding their noses while doing so because of the voting record since then.
We actually need a common sense party. As of right now I am looking for an alternative candidate to vote for and am checking what is out there on the ballot from the small parties.
I know all the arguments for not doing so but to be frank with you picking from two piles of **** should not be what I do the rest of my life. I want to be able to say I did something other than vote the same crap in again and again.
We could also as a nation vote None of the Above
Or boycott the elections period
We just can't sit here like this anymore. It is literally destroying us from within.
I am open to any suggestion at this point.
Hell I am open to an insurrection at this point
