I'm working on the gas guage, here is what I know so far:

1. I have power at the guage on the dash.

2. I have power at the sender in the tank.

When i turn the key the indicator goes DOWN instead of up to show the gas level???

I cleaned all the connections.

Whats up wit dat??

sending unit

I went out and got a new sending unit installed it and now I have 3/4 of a tank of motion lotion...:sun:

I have an issue with my Medallion Gas gauge as well. When the power is on, I have about 10.8 volts at the sending unit post on the back of the gauge. This is coming from the gauge itself, not the sending unit. When I disconnect the wire from the back of the sending unit and read the post itself, it gives me 10.8 volts. Is this an issue with the gauge being shorted or do I also need a new sending unit? I currently read as if I have no fuel.

your sending unit works off of ground, not power. the gauge is basically a volt gauge calibrated for fuel level, You should have 12V at teh positive terminal on the back of the gauge, then the s wire(usually pink) goes to the sender, Teh sender needs to be grounded, so if you have a poly tank, make sure you run a ground wire to the tank, if you have an aluminum tank, make sure the tank is grounded, if you are unsure about how well its grounded, run a dround wire to one of the screws holding the sender in place. With teh key on, the guage should read approx whats in the tank. Pull the sender, leave the wires hooked to it(including the ground) raise and lower the sender, the gauge should move with the sender. If it doesn't, ground out the pink wire, the gauge should peg beyond full, if it doesn't, you're gauge is bad. remeebr to double check you test leads when checking the system, a weak ground on your lead could scew your results

Hey Spareparts. I forgot to thank you for the great info. I troubleshot my system and it ended up being a bad sending unit. Thanks a million for the help. This is an awesome site. You guys help all us novices save a ton of money by doing this stuff ourselves. You all rock!!
