Has any one used Formula 27 like a gel coat over a large area? If so how does it hold up, to weather exposure? Thanks Billy Mac ;D
 
I have used it a couple of times, it is hard as a brick in 20 minutes from the time you mix it and sands like hard steel.

But it says right on the can that it is "semi" waterproof, so you have to cover it with something.....paint, gel coat, resin, bubble gum, something.

I don't think you could do a large area all at once cause it cures so fast.
 
Its great stuff, and as said hard as brick, if you spread even you will have less to sand! You can make it harden slower by adding less hardner.
But in a large area I would use paint or something to seal it.
I used it on my bow rail holes and did not cover it with anything, looks great.

Used it to redo the whole bow on my friends whaler, it was near a fire and scaled all up!, chiped away high stuff sanded filled with 27 sanded and painted still looking good!
 
My plan is to finish my transom cap with the F27. I plan to texture the cap. By doing the texturing I don't have to sand perfectly smooth or worry about a color match. I may even tint the F27. Billy Mac ;D

Formula 27 does not hold up in any type of weather conditions. It is a polyester product which absorbs water and moisture. When this product is used it must be sealed or painted. Also polyester products do not adhere to epoxy finishes.

No harder than the floor or the deck. I don't want it to look like the popcorn ceilings but rather the non skid floor. If it becomes to hard to clean I'll go to bleach like MJ! ;D Billy Mac
