fix for gas tank vent leak?

I have a 1973 v-20 with the dual side 20-gallong tanks. If I come even close to filling them, I get fueling leaking out the vent all over the side of the boat. One side used to leak into the boat, but I fixed that by replacing a cracked tube.

Anybody else have this problem or know of a way to keep the vents from leaking?

I have the same boat and problem!!!
I fixed it by moving the vents up higer on to the sides were the gunle steps up. You will have to get some elbowed vents to make them fit but the problem will be all fixed!!
the problem now is that it is lower then the rub rail and is about the same hight as the tank.

I have a pic I ran out to take for you but it is not that good, I had to lift the cover to get under it. But you get the Idea.
I left the old vents in for two reasons, 1 you can never get them out any way and 2 they keep the hole filled.

I've got the same problem and the fuel siphons out when trailering...the solution I have is the previous owner installed valves to close off the vents when traveling on the trailer...only problem is remembering to open them when the boats in the water
