Fishing report for June 7,8,9

Sometimes the best laid plans...

I fished the Ches Bay out of Onancock VA in a club tourney with my Dad and Uncle Saturday in 95+ heat. We had a good day catching about 1 million croakers, a trout, and a few blues. I tried everything to catch a decent flounder with zero luck. Somedays it just ain't meant to be, but a good day with the old man is always a good day.

We decided that Sunday we'd fish way south, off the mouth of the Ches Bay looking for a big drum. Well, the sharks and skates kept us company and ate most of the bait, but no drum for us. The highlight of the day was a rescue. We were anchored up in a very swift current and watched someone fall overboard off a 24 Albe. They were over 100 yards from the boat in a matter of seconds and it was readily apparent that I could get off the anchor much faster than they could, so we scooped the poor guy up. Karma should be with us for the year. Finished up the day with a family lunch with Mom and my Aunt.

Monday we headed offshore in search of Charlie the Gay Tuna. Well, we couldn't even find canned tuna. We did salvage the day with numerous chopper blues and false albecore. The Mate on this boat is a close friend as is the Captain. I was working the pit with Kyle most of the day. We had five fish hooked up at one time, and after boating three, I saw out of the corner of my eye Kyle's high dollar sunglasses going over the side, followed by a huge splash. Man overboard agian:cen:. As we were still moving forward I yelled MOB to Perry up on the bridge while scrambleing for the life ring. Once I got it I was just about to throw when I started laughing so hard....he was swimming toward the boat fine....I asked if he was fine and when he started cussing I knew we were good. I boated the last two false albes, then drug his sorry a s s through the tuna door. I'd give big bucks for pictures of that, but I don;t think we got any as everybody else was on a rod.

That's my story....there are no pics....and now I have to work a friggin month to pay the fuel bill....and I can't wait to do it all again ASAP:love:

Nice going... And all though from most of your reports I know you dont need any Karma, it is defently on your side....
Did he end up getting his sun glasses back:you:

Nice report Air. We tried looling for flatties Sunday afternoon (missed high tide) and all we caught was seaweed. :bat:

although the air show is in town this weekend and we got buzzed by some F15's a couple of times. that made up for the lack of fish.:sun:

Sean, thats a negative on teh Costa's, but the guys pitched in to buy him a new pair cause he worked his tail off all day.

CY, when is the air show? I may have to come up to watch the planes,er, the sceneery in OC this weekend?

There's a tuna down there wearing Costas right now....

Air sounds like a fun trip. Too bad the targeted species didn't cooperate. Still much better than a skunk any day.

Oh and I really hate to do this to ya but I feel obligated:

:thre:

Air, I think I heard the air show is during the week, maybe today, tomorrow and Friday?????? does not make sense to me, but i heard it would be over before the weekend.:head:

CY, thanks for the heads up.

Blue, I'll see what I can get for pics. There were plenty taken by others, I never got my camera out. I here we had some cool dolphin pics as we were covered up by them several times. They liked playing with the teasers...

Don't sweat it Air, I was just saying that to save someone else the trouble.

Its hard to worry with taking pictures when you are concentrating on catching fish. What boat were you guys on?
