Look around for a used one ...... you'll probably get more for your money .......... I have a Lowrance x 70 that I'm going to put on EBAY that should bring that much if you're interested.

Garagenc, you may want to consider that X70...a striper-fishin' buddy of mine swears by 'em...if Rick's got a good workin' unit w/ all cables, etc, you'd have a good fish-finder...

It came with the boat ....... everything is there. I liked it so much I bought a second one because it was discontinued but it is still one of the best one that Lowrance ever produced. That's why it still brings a good price on EBAY. I was going to buy a seperate GPS but I got a great deal on a LCX25c which gave me a good combo unit so I took it off. Then I got even a better deal on a LCX111c so I use the 111c on the 18 Sport and the 25c on my bassboat. The transducer is still on the boat. When I get around to testing the other unit I plan to sell both of them if both work as well as the 332c I had on the bass boat.

Hey rhahn427 tell me about that x-70 I'm not familiar with it. I'm interested.

It's a black & white unit w/ a sizeable screen...if you ever saw an LMS 350 (see dash in my Gallery), the sonar returns are much the same...the 350 was sonar/ gps combo, while the 70 is sonar only...that's my best memory of it...my buddy is one of the most productive striper-fishermen around, and he doesn't use anything else... :D ...he pulled out a new color unit to go back to one... :) ...

Yeah it's black and white and uses alot of pixels to give you the fine definition ....... I think it also has a high output to show you everything .......... I'll try to find the specs for you in the next couple of days.

IF....Iwas going to have a black & White machine it would be the X-70 or X-85. I've used both and they are great machines, no doubt. IMHO, they don't stack up against the Furuno color units such as the 600L, but they are also priced accordingly. If you don't demand color, you won't find a better sonar.

Fishfinders are like most all other things in this world you get what you pay for. Depending on your budget I would stay with furuno, lowrance or garmin in that order. I regularlly fish the washington canyon and my furuno unit reads the bottom quite well down to around 1300 foot and I can get a digital readout of bottom depth to below 3000 foot depending on the thermocline. The deepest readout was 3307 feet. The transducer is located on the transom and above 30 kts it can get erratic but at that speed I am just trying to get someplace . Its just common sense that if you shoot ultra sound thru a solid hull you are going to lose detail so mounting inside the hull is a tradeoff. The other disadvantage is that in a shoot thru
application you lose you temp and speed functions. For me temp is almost as important as contour and echos. My suggestion is buy a quality unit and try it on the outside if your not satisfied inside is always an option
