FF/Transducer question

After alot of research and frustration, I have decided to bring my old Furuno FCV667 out of retirement. I looked for a comparable but smaller unit at a reasonable price. I just didn't see anything that would give me the performance I was used to and still be affordable.
Has anyone mounted one of these on a V20? Where? Pics? For those not familiar, these are big units. I am thinking about hanging it under the steering wheel, just to the left. I will probably bang my knee on it, but I need to move the seat back a few inches anyway.
What about the transducer? I have a thruhull. I could use it to shoot thru the hull, as long as the hull isn't cored. I'm 99% sure it's solid. Is it? Or I could drill. If so, where? I have read complaints about ff's not reading at higher speeds on the V20.
I had this unit mounted on my 20' Hydrasports. I built a shelf on the console so the monitor would fit and mounted the transducer right on the keel. It read clearly into the 40's.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks

2nd...I'd mount the unit on the port dash, angled towards the helm. Thats where my FCV 600l is...there is enough depth in that location for the 667 to work as well. I'll hold on the 'ducer comments for now.

Good luck,

Edit to add: Mount it here:

I just bought a Furuno 620 color, nice small unit with lots of features, about $600 I also have a thur hul ducer I had to drill a 2 1/4 hole for bnut not a V20.
And you are right the V is not cored, But my Sea Ox is.

Can you make a bracket to bolt on the transom for the thru hull?
Or this may fit , if so at least you will have 2 options.

Thanks

I thought about mounting on the other dash, I'm just not thrilled w/ the idea. I've got the larger dash over there w/ the glove box and plexiglass on top for charts. The unit looks like the Sitex in the pics. Nice idea on the bracket for the 'ducer. I've poked enough holes in boats that it doesn't hurt anymore, but I only want to poke 1. Anyone have a thruhull? is the a sweet spot? Should I attempt to put it right on the keel? Thanks

Yep you got it right Randleman, I put a thru hull 20dg on mine and it always reads. I can measure it off keel to the stbd side and from the stern if you want me too.

I posted pics if you search under my name when I changed out my motor and took pics of the job.

ps I have a Furuno also.
