Far away V20

Far away V20. Was in South Africa on a consulting contract. Did some fishing in the Indian Ocean. Low and behold ran accross a V20. Boat started life as an merc 470 IO was shipped out of the states in the mid 90's. Owner converted it to twin 70hp outboards. Interesting thing the engines were mounted outboard on transom with custom made brackets. Boat also had an aux fuel tank built into stern and a small custom fighting chair. Hull painted red with white topside. Did not have a camera with me but owner is supposed to send me some pictures.

We were in Puerto Rico a couple of years ago, saw an older parker CC, about 21 feet, had a attached plate of fiberglassed wood covering the transom notch, had similar individual brackets like you are talking about bolted to the transom and two two stroke Johnson small blocks bolted on. Talked to the fellow for a few minutes, he was a local fisherman who supplied the resturant trade in his small town. Said it handled better and flew with the twin set up than it did when he had the single 150 on it. He made the change after the big engine died. It died when he was out and he was in some bad weather. He said he likes two smaller on it, plenty fast, more reliabilty and he trolled a lot with just one engine running.
