Factory Five Cobra

Hey guys, I just thought to put this post on here. This is what I posted on three Mustang/Cobra websites. Hopefully you guys will have some ideas.
Thanks

I am using a 1989 Mustang GT as a donor car for a Factory Five AC Cobra http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ac+cobra kit. I freshened up the engine with bearings and rings about ten years ago when I started the kit. I added a mild cam (I believe the E or B cam, one up from stock) and the stock intake has been replaced by an Explorer intake. I got the project to the go cart stage. It was a frame with a Mustang drive train. It ran and I could drive it. Then my two beautiful daughters came and decided they were more important then my wrenching. I started and ran the car periodically so nothing would seize up.

2013, I can now start to finish the project. The motor was recently pulled for painting …and when the oil was dropped we found a lot of gas in the oil! Like 3-4 quarts. I’m thinking it is a faulty injector, any suggestions? I have a second set of injectors from an Explorer that appear to be a different size.

Is there a way to diagnose the leak? While we are trying to decide if we want bigger injectors, mass air and throttle bodyhttp://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=throttle+body from the Explorer, are there going to be any computer issues, does it need to be flashed?

And lastly, the brackets and pulleys. (1) we are not going to be using the ac and the air pump so what brackets should we use that would allow us to use the same serpentine belt or will that have to be changed? (2) if we have to use a different bracket for the alt, and if this will change the length of the belt, what is the length we would use?

Thanks any help is deeply appreciated.

fisrt things fisrt, are you running stock programming? if so, make sure you are running the stock thermostat. If it runs cool it thinks its in warm up mode adn will trun up teh fuel enough to gas the plugs adn leak past the rings. Secondly, pull the hose off the pressure regulator, see if there is any gas in the hose, if so, cycle the key to let teh pump run and see if any fuel runs out of the regulator. If those check out, you can take an injector, slip a piece of hose over the end with a clamp on it, use a air blower and pressurize it to see if any leaks past, i've actually used a can of carb cleaner with teh straw on it to find one that was leaking. Check your plugs, they shoudl give you an idea of whats going on, if its just oen plug, then its that injector or the vacumm line from the regulator(see where it goes), if its all of them, its either fuel pressure, programming, or an electrical issue. I don't know much abotu Fords, btu they were runnign a returnless fuel system that varied the voltage to the pump to drop presure at low rpm, you might want to check into that. If you are real concerned about the injectors, send them to injectorrx.com in Huston, they charge $18 per injector to flow, clean, and check them

I carefully watched as a friend built his Factory-5. His was not fuel infected. Cool project there.. AND Glovebox. There are a lot of specialty businesses set up to support what you are doing. I wish I could be of some help but I don't speak Ford. Encouragement, we got to spare.. Pics of the boss's Superformance Cobra. Mild cam, all aluminum Carrol Shelby 427, Edelbrock aluminum heads, w/2 small 4v (like 360 or 390 CFM ea). 360 to the rear wheels. Love everything about it but the size.
