everyone be careful this season

How sad. My guess would be that she was badly injured in the bouy crash, it was dark, he was going full throttle trying to get back to land so she could receive help, and he simply didn't see the pier until it was too late. Strictly a guess, but it seems to explain things. In all cases I have to agree with Lunberslinger... ya gotta be careful...especially in times of emergencys.. make sure you know what you are doing. RIP

yes the saftey of the rest of the people come firstisnt there any lighting on the bouy or peir

This happened not to far from me. It has been a terrible year for boat accidents on the lower Chesapeake....7 killed in the past month.....and I could be forgetting a couple:head:

Be careful....watch the other guy, and dont take chances!

Here's one tip I can offer...don't get drunk and go haulin' @ss across the water at night...there now...I've posted my PSA (Public Service Announcement) for the day.

Lessee...I know there's a cold beer in here somewhere...

Exactly OZ... I'm very sorry to hear about these losses. Every tragedy is just that... a tragedy. So sad to hear reports like this. That said, I won't be surprised to learn that one or more of these accidents are related to alcohol and to make matters worse, because of accidents like these, it won't be long now until it will be illegal to have beer on your boat. Enjoy your freedoms while we have them...

Drinking and driving a motor vehicle on land is obviously wrong and dangerous, but drinking and driving a boat is worse. Tests have proven that being out on the water for a few hours or more affects a person's senses greatly. The combined effects of wind, sun, waves, noise, etc. can really dull the senses, and it has been said that the effect of just a couple beers while boating are equivalent to a six pack sitting at a bar or at home.

Have fun, enjoy in moderation or when you get to the dock, and be safe.

In NJ it is exactly the same penalty for driving drunk on the water as it is on land.. Loss of license, fines, and possible jail time. :head:
