Ever used this reel???

So we stopped into bass pro yesterday and my plan was to snatch up this reel. They actually have a pretty big selection of lower priced flippin’ rods so I was gonna slap together a nice little fluke setup for under a bean.
I picked up the reel from the display and futz’d around with it and for the price, it seemed like an ok little reel. Reminded me of the old penn 940. One of the best little fluke reels ever. Why they stopped making them, I’ll never know. So we spent some time and I scrutinized maybe a dozen rods, all under $50 bucks and all nice little rods.
I picked up a spool of store brand mono, yellow 10 lb test. 1,200 yards for like $12 bucks.
Time comes to grab the reel and BOOM!!! Not in stock.
Apparently, they sell the sh!t out of these reels and they can’t keep them on the shelf.
So now, I have the rod and I have the line. I figured I would order the reel online and still have plenty of time before the season.
So here’s my question….. has anybody ever owned, bought or used this reel? It looks ok. Chinese. Cheap ish. Found a nice little rod for $50 bucks and I’m ready to move on the reel.
I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just grab another penn peerless and be done with it.
As a side note, every Chinese penn I’ve come across has been a piece of sh!t. I’m sending my boy’s conquest back for the second time. I don’t think he has 3 hours on it.
So for $50 bucks, would you grab this little reel and cross your fingers?
The penn is $10 bucks more.

looks like a re-branded old Abu-Garcia Ambassadeur.

I used a left handed one for fluking for a few years. Don't remember what size number it was. Really liked it. Left handed reel you can cast and hold rod in right hand, don't have to change hands to reel. great for jigging fluke.

It took a beating but eventually the bail button would stick and you had to pull it out to engage the crank.

Looks like a brand spanking newer version of my Ambassador Trophy Collection. I bought this back in 2003 when I bought my Pro-Line. We use to do a tackle shop trip every year, we started in Ocean County, N.J. and that's where I bought this, in Tackle Direct, it was $89.99 back then, it just came out. I used it for Fluke. That tackle shop trip was about how we tried to hit every Mom & Pop tackle shop, spend a few bucks in each one until we got back to Staten Island. We did this trip for almost 13 years. Tackle Direct isn't a Mom & Pop, but I always wanted to see that place and it was worth the trip. I remember our first trip, Michael and I left Staten Island at 6 it was raining and by the time we got to Ocean County we were in 5 inches of snow. Every year more and more of our friends joined where we had to take two cars. Thank Nissan for my Xtrerra.

I have my dad’s old abu Garcia on my good fluke rod. My wife always manages to grab that one, so the cheap is most likely gonna be mine. I just came from bass pro website and looked at some reviews on the rod I just bought. It doesn’t look too good. I may have to swap it out for something else.

I found a beautiful little casting rod in tackle direct. A 6.6 8-17. Cost all of $39.99. Can’t wait to get some nice fluke on it. I have something a little heavier for outside fishing, but for $90. Bucks, this is a great little setup.
