Dueling Duals * New Pics*

Well new guy here, hey how are ya, anyway customer came into my shop and wanted to repower his boat so we started talking just wanted pretty much what he had for many years basic Yamaha 150 2-stroke. No problem what kind of boat do you have? 87 wellcraft dual console, really hmmmm don't see to many of those around, I know because I have one too. I'm just getting started on mine and his is a working boat just needs a repower. Mine well, it's another story. Its been through three Hurricanes in the last three years Katrina and Gustave hit it the worst she got washed away in Gustave coming off the trailer and filling the boat with saltwater and sludge. I have some before pics on my work computer I'll have to post those later. The owner had had enough he asked my Mechanic if he would like the boat ( they go back along way). He said no but he would take the motor (200 Suzuki). Boat was passed to me, she was in pretty sorry shape. I have cleaned her up alot but still have lots to do. Anyway My customer said that the 20' duals were rare I said what are you talking about they're giving em away round here!

:pic: That is a little odd (inna good way) to see two duallies pictured side-by-side like that...COOL!!...are BOTH 87s?...are BOTH now yours?...they look great...only difference I see is the open/closed bow-rails...

welcome aboard I also have a 87 dual consol ..... but its a mess rite now it needs a good scrubbing and then it should be good to go..... Im not sure if I have any pictures of it cleaned up but I'll look.

I gotta be honest with you, it was a LOT of work, but well worth it.

Well then a LOTTA hard work...either way well worth it IMO...congratulations on your new ride!!!...REELY looks great!!...must be quite satisfying!!....you gave a great boat a new lease on life:clap:

Wow, your boat really does look terrific. What was going on with all the debris in the boat before you restored it?

Believe it or not the latest onslaught of yuck was brought on by Ike. The boat did go through Katrina And managed sort of OK, Then Gustave which also caused Minor damage, but of all things Ike took her off the trailer and totally filled the boat with Yuck. Also caused the original owner to decide he was done repairing. The fuel tank had 55 gallons of fuel and 5 gallons of unidentifiable sludge. Under all the sawgrass was the last earthly remains of a large gray squirrel. Every wire was green and fuzzy I stripped the harness and started fresh. Surprisingly almost every thing worked! The bilge pump, float switch, transom, and most every thing else is good to go. Strange how some of the worst storms didn't really get her, then a marginal one did. Gotta tell you though, any boats been through 3 hurricanes in basically 3 1/2 years and is still ticking is a pretty serious testament to it's construction.
:nice:
