Dolphin or porpoise?

on the beach in rehobeth, i saw a small pod of dolphin swim by.
about 20-30 yards off the beach.
black backs with a pretty large dorsal.
never saw their faces.
anybody know what these were?

they come buy all the time around here, but I am not sure which they are? i thought dolphin and porpose where almost the same thing?:head:

They are dolphin.

They come up into the De bay and if you drift,
you can pull up right along side of them
and watch the show.

They will jump up around the boat spin turn and splash.
The adults are about ten feet long.

i dont think so.
they were much darker in color with a high dorsal fin and they were moving pretty slow.

...sometimes when they're not feeding or lookin' for food, they'll cruise along slow...the color, I have no idea...unless they are the spotted dolphin...spotteds are generally darker...

They are dolphin, we watch them go up and down the beach all day long.

Hey HAMMER, where are you, I am sure you could verify this,
I'll bet you been swimmin with those fishies.
