Close call today!

Almost lost my Dad today. :o My Dad was sitting in his recliner this morning talking to my Mom about possibly going to the movies today. Next minute he says he's not feeling well. Maybe another day. Then he broke out in massive sweats and chest pain and tells Mom to dial 911 right away. I got the call and rushed right to the hospital. The ambulance driver and the emergency room doc both told me that they lost him both on the way and in the emergency room. They stabilized him then transported him to a bigger hospital in Boston where they installed three stints to open blocked arteries. Tonight he's resting quietly and tomorrow he'll undergo tests to determine the amount of damage to his heart.
Been a long day. I just got home a little while ago.
Still lots of fishing left Dad. Not yet.......... :'(
This is a pic of Dad from a few years ago.

CB I'll say a little prayer tonight for him, and you.
Be forwarned, usually there is a second attack within a week to ten days. Often even after the problem has been corrected. Don't know the reasons for it medically but a large percentage have it happen. I have gone thru it with four diffrent people.
Good luck to you and to your Pop. I hope all goes well for him.

Chum, thoughts and prayers are with ya man. Really sorry to hear this, but at least they got him back.

Good Luck,

reminds me of my old man.
a stubborn old bastard that just dont wanna go.
we had a similar scare a few years ago.
tell him to keep on kickin.

CB, my Dad is 76.  I'm taking he and my mom to Baja fishing in June and I'm rewrapping matching rods right now for the trip.  He bought the rods for two of us when I was 14 and he took me yellowtail fishing for the first time.

My dad and I didn't always get along when I was younger but with age I have realized how much of what I am, I owe to him.  There is absolutely nothing like the complex relationship between a father and son.

My thoughts are with your dad, yourself and your family.  I wish for your dad what he most wishes for himself.

Tell him your crazy friends are pulling for him,
TH

Re: Close call today! Our prayers are with you andh

Our prayers are with you and your family Chum. Sorry to hear about him, but he is still with ya, Thank God.

My mother had 2 minor heart attacks, they put in stints. Now she is sailing the Carribean. He can recover and fish another day.

Been there and done that Chum. I'm part of the zipper club now. Keep us posted brother, our prayers are with the the both of ya.

Thanks again for the well wishes guys.
I've met a lot of friends and fished with many of them over the years and while those times were great, Dad has been the one constant throughout my life. We've done it all together. He's the one that taught me to fish at an early age and always had a lot of patients with me and my brothers.
Next week is the Massachusetts Striped Bass Association Fishing Show and Expo at Gillette Stadium. He already asked me last night if we were still going. ;D I told him to lets just worry about this first. :)

He will pull through buddy. Just keep praying, and dont forget to take care of yourself. I will keep your family in my prayers. ;)

I'll be thinkin' about you and your dad...glad he pulled thru, CB... sounds like lots of great memories... he'll always be with you...

Prayers to you Chum and your Dad.

My dad, 76, didn't have the heart attack, but has had
triple bypass.
Now he goes dancing every night of the week.
His doctor tells him, I don't know what your doing but keep it up,
cause your heart is in fantastic shape.

CB,

I've prayed for you, your dad, and the family. Hang in there. This is a good reminder for us to appreciate and redeem the time we have with loved ones now since we never know what a day or moment will bring.

Thanks everyone. Just got home. Dad's doing a bit better today. They still have him in the CCU. he had many tests today, but we still don't know the results or extent of damage. They did say that he may have one or tow other arteries that may need to be tended to before he's released.
My grandson made him an awesome Get Well card that really cheered him up. ;D
