Change sometimes is not good

Why change
When you have a good site , why change? Not only with this site but with a lot of other things, why do people or company’s change?
ShopRite, I know where everything is and they change the isles. Same thing with Walmart. They had a very nice store, changed it now it sucks. Leave it alone if it works. Just my 2 cents

Are you referring to this site? The SSL was not working which means google stops displaying it in searches,, hundreds of users left because of inability to get password resets, new users could not sign up, galleries ceased to function, and all the years of information was not far from being lost. I think these changes were good.

Just like outboards being updated to be more reliable and efficient. I dont want an outboard from the 70s to go offshore when I can have a Yamaha that I am 99.9% sure will get me back. Something need to change like people.

What do you disagree with for the changes on the site?

Step,

I tend to agree with some of your points, but if you understand the reasons behind the site changes it makes a ton of sense.

For instance:

The old site could not accept new members. That in and of itself is the death knell for a forum. No new folks to welcome to the forum, and contribute to the conversations. We want this forum to grow - not shrink, or at least that should be the goal.

Also, the underpinning of the site - a very old, unsupported version of Vbulletin - was a big problem that contributed to the inability to accept new members. Unsupported means if the site goes dark and a reboot doesn't fix it - we could be screwed and no one to go to for help.

The old wasn't mobile friendly either. Posting pictures - Do you remember how hard it was to post a picture on the old site? I don't think I've posted a pic since Photobucket stopped being free and that has been years ago, lol.

All of these issues went away when the site got updated. We've got new features that make it so much easier and better. The site has been around for over 20 years. Without the updates I don't think it would've lasted another 5 years. The future is as bright as it has ever been...

That being said, if anybody has suggestions on how the new site can be made better feel free to give your input.

I should add that the software required to run the old vbulletin site was at end of life and servers could not be found to run software that old. The site was dying. Not anymore.

You guys know better than me. I didn’t know all those issues. So you’re right BUT. About those outboards. I have a 1988 mercury that’s still running strong and I see a bunch of 5hose yammis dead. My son has a 2010 250 Yamaha that’s blown th3 head. Oh yeah and if you have to work on the old school ou5boards they are so much easier . 4 strokes vs 2 strokes. Give me my 2 stroke. Stronger and quicker response I can see the responses coming. And as far as the first one. Updating on this site,,,,I guess you’re right BUT I don’t like changes. But I’m getting used to it. I hope we can get more new members. I love the v20. Let’s keep it going.

You make some good points on old school OBs you can work on them yourself. Even on the water.

i see this as a lifeline. This site was circling the drain, now I see new members. No real new posting, so they may be mostly robots and spammers, but views are up

I applaud Admin & Blue

As far as rearranging stores, they do that to make u wander up and down the aisle and see products you might not know u need or want.

The both of you did a great job updating this site. Now that I found out how to post ,,you will see a lot of my post. It just takes me a while to come around to new things.

LMAO Admin (Dave) - I realize an opportunity when I see one! :) Dave and his team are the main one's to thank. We talked, he laid out his plan, said what he was going to do and he got it done in record time!

Step, looking forward to your posts - keep em coming (y)

They are. And thank you. P.S. I love the YouTube post when the dog was saved by the amazing captain and mate on a beautiful wellcraft Steplift V20.
Spongy posted it on general category. Right before yours. If you didn’t watch it ,you must.
