Thanks! That rig has been around for quite some time and I've even done it with wire cable rather than a rope. Also I have had the anchor go (release) under 3 to 4 seas. Now why would someone would want to be at anchor in conditions like that...?
Another thought is that those zip ties come in different weight strengths; ie. 25lb, 50lb. Keep different sizes in the boat and use accordingly could be an idea.
Let's see if someone comes up with a new design idea. I've got my creative hat on and if I come up with something new, I will run it by you guys.
They make a anchor with a ring that goes all around so that you can pull and it will slide and lift, there is a pic in that same thread.
I had one called a hooker before, and they hold great!! as for the ring thing, well lets just say that the anchor is at the botttom of the ocean right now cause it did not work!
Got mine hung the other day...would not come up from any direction...got straight over it and pulled away w/the rope tied off to a stern cleat...after some HARD pullin', she finally broke loose at the rope-to-chain connection...had a galvanized "eye" and two clamps on it and that's what let go...they were old and rusted, so that turned out to be my break away...
