bottom paint

NO!!!!!!!

Look at my pics. Never been bottom painted, never been in a slip.. always trailered. Some people put it on for looks, but bottom paint is only needed when you keep you boat in the water at a slip. It leaches poisons that keeps barnacles and other nasties from sticking to your hull.. but if you keep your boat on a trailer it is not needed.

I agree. Definitely do not paint if the boat is not going to be on the water for extended periods of time. Not only does the virgin bottom look great, you will not have the maintenance task of repainting every few years.

bottom paint or VC epoxy

My boat was so bad with blisters I had to strip it down to the bare fiberglass, sanded everything smooth with 120, filled all the small holes with west systems epoxy and 403, sand smooth again, put one kit of interprotect 2000E, then went over with interlux VC performance epoxy, You dont need to double coat the epoxy but I bought the interlux at a discount price. Boats been finished 4 years now, I use it a fair amount and no problems with the bottom at all. If your going to do it, do it right the first time, I turned mine over, Dont want to be working on the bottom from underneath.
