Boat Mechanic Needed in NJ

I have not had any work done by them for a few years but Blackfoot Marine is who did my work previously. I forgot the owners name, they did good work but like all the rest they are busy and expensive. They specialize in Mercury including I/O's. but I believe they do others too.
On 17th ave in AH.
 
I use a guy named Chris, his company is Dockside Services or something like that. Has done right by me the few times I needed him but thats the best I can vouch for him. He prefers if you bring his boat to hime (in Washington, NJ which would be a haul for you) but he does do mobile service and seems to spend 3-4 days of his week working down at the shore areas. Not sure if your boat is mobile or not....worth a call at least, friendly guy and has always been able to give me a pretty firm price right over the phone after I describe my problem. 908-646-4626
 
Bob Fuller in Bayville. Little further south of you but well worth the ride if you have a merc. When all the local to me marina's wanted 1500-2000 for a new shift shaft to be installed and provide me with a 6 week wait I called him based on 10 recommendations I had received. He was busy but I explained my situation and offered him extra $ to get it done in 3 weeks. It was done in 2 days, my bill was $400 and he fixed some other stuff to boot. If I didn't have the Honda on my V21 I would buy a merc just to deal with him.

I've done that a couple of times w/good result...it takes some basic hand tools, drill-motor, minimal wiring and a little fiberglass cutting to mount the controls...oh and toss in a small tube of 4200...google up "How to install Trim Tabs" and I bet something will pop up...

Have you ever installed anything in fiberglass?...

If you decide to have someone else do it, you actually need a boat "rigger" rather than an mechanic...or a friend w/a working knowledge of such things...good luck and keep us posted on how it goes...

And you are gonna really like what the tabs do for your boat...like adding 4' to the LOA for ride improvement!!...:clap:
 
willie If you have a mercury , go to anglers marine in seabright, thats the only mechanic who i would let touch my merc, and i was never sorry, forget black foot, lester, hes way to expensive..,

but any one who has a merc anglers is the one and i do not work for them,,, just in case you were thinking it
im not sure about trim tabs but they would be the first ones i would call
