What has everybody here used that worked well to spruce up a faded old gel coat?

Oh man, they covered this about a week ago instead of buffing.
I'll try to find it.
What ever happened with the cabin doors?

CHeck out the above referenced post. To sand or not to sand, that is the question. Even light fading on a dark gelcoat will require some level of sanding. If your talking aobut the v20 light gelcoat - oh heck, I'm a advocate of sanding anyway. 1000 grit up - nothing coarser unless the fade is severe. I paint cars on the side as a hobby. COlor sanding through the full range of sandpaper grits followed by polishing will produce factory results. It requires light elbow grease but its worth it in the end.

The other day when I was washing down the V after a day on the brine I was looking at a couple of new scratches on the side where the kids were holding the boat at the dock for me while I got the trailer and I thought, "Man I'm glad I don't have a nice new boat".

Scratches on a nice shiney boat are a bummer, scratches on a dull faded boat.......who cares.

have had my boat since 98 I have never added one drop of wax!! Clean up at my house comes when the guy next door says what is that smell, And he is doing just that now!!

Out comes a gallon of bleach dump it every were, then comes soap and water and the perrsure washer, all done till next time ;D

Wax for pretty boys tied to the dock and sipping girly drinks!! Wack on wack off

You aren't going to believe me on this one, but my wife bought this stuff a few years ago on QVC and I used it on my Whaler. Pro Shot Cabinet renewing. Works great on teak too.

You just wipe it on with a clean rag. The more coats the more shine you get. I haven't even used two bottles on my 17 whaler inside and out. Lasts a year for me, but my Whaler is in a garage.

I gave my '20 the once over with Star-brite marine polish 2 years ago. It still looks good. After use I only rinse it off with water. I also polished the bottom since it's never had any paint on it.
I'm in agreement with the pleasure on NOT freakin' out whenever a new scratch appears.
