bendix stuck

screw that..... yank the engine out and find/fix the problem... you and your friend SHOULD be able to rebuild it for under a few hundred dollars......

Don't give up on her... you WILL lose your tail if you quit now... Running it's worth 3 times what it's worth with a bad engine.

It's all new for me right now... I am going to sleep on it.. I am working midnights right now and have all night to think on it. Where the boat is we don't have the ability to pull the motor. I would have to take to a different place with a loader tractor and pull the motor and put it in the back of my truck and take it back where it is now... Wish you guys were closer…

Personally I would be hesitant to accept that it has major engine problems if it was running fine till you shut it down

... when I look back on it, the motor was turning but not starting . Then it just stopped with a big clunk and I remember thinking the starter motor had broken. I wonder of a ring is broken and has the cylinder stuck....

if it won't turn over with a breaker bar on the crank, with the plugs out. Pull teh out drive off and try again. Its the only other thing that can keep the engine from turning. You need to pull it off anyway if you decide to repair/replace the engine, so might as well pull the drive to eliminate it. BTW, put the shifter in forward gear before pulling the drive

just say screw it and send to me!! lol
... and if there was ever a guy I would "give" my boat to,,, it would be you.

This is the hard part, she is a beauty boat. I just don't have the pockets to dump thousands in to this boat. You guys might be a little pi$$ed at me, but I think it might be time to cut my losses and run. Feel free to comment, I am heading to the wood shed to cry now.

See I'm not such as hard a$$ as I thought I was.

LOL. ROTFLMAO. Long night., no sleep, just work...

But until you know what the problem is, you don't know if it's thousands or just a few bucks. Find out the problem, then you can make an informed decision.

there is NO WAY it has to be thousands... heck, with diligent searching you could find a rotten boat with a good drivetrain and a trailer for a few hundred and then stripping and junking the boat you can sell the trailer.

Click the link in my sig about my monte carlo where it says "build thread here and see what a determined person w very little money can do

While you're at it go ahead and sign up on iboats as it is a VERY good resource for boat info and that will let you see the pics of my build.

OK, so you won't be happy with me but I am sort of meeting half way. I am going to repower my boat. I am going to put a 7.2 hemi in it...

But on a more serious note, I am going to fix the motor or at least have it fixed, so the means you guys have to put up with me for a while longer. I feel much better now. You can't know how stressed I was about this frigging boat, really it's just a boat. I'll be back on the water in 2 weeks.

Yep... you got the fever. Just relax... there's really no cure for it, so you might as well just sit back and enjoy it.

so what happened that locked up the motor?

We are still in the process of unsticking or most likely replacing. I am picking up a used motor on Thursday. As I mentioned earlier the problem is getting the motor out of the boat. An engine hoist is not tall enough. I need a A frame hoist.

when i pulled my i/o i put plywood on the floor, put the engine hoist right in the boat, lifted the motor out set on deck, used a come along in a tree to get out of boat. were there is a will theres a way!!

a case of beer for a guy with a tow truck can also get it done.... like Joe tho I have pulled MANY a boat engine under a tree before I decided to build myself a gantry crane

Pulling the motor from my boat is beyond my capabilities. I would need help or I would help who ever was doing the pulling. I wish you guys were closer and could as least supervise. The boat is a 1982 and I think the last users did not take care of the boat, ie) I think they might have over heated the motor. So… the bright side of this is, we (the Royal we) can check the 'new motor' and make sure there are a few years of boating left.
