Bad news

The plan is to work on the site this evening and hopefully cut over tonight. We may be down for a little while. I hope we can get it to work......

Wow,

Though I've been MIA, many of you helped me when I was clueless about getting a handle on my boat and her issues. I'm still clueless, but I'm a bit more confident now...and I couldn't be without you guys.

If I have to pitch in a few dollars, so be it. Also, I currently co-manage a website for a university, and have several years of experience under my belt.

How can I help?

Site has NOT been cutover. You will know when it does because a week or two worth of posts will go poof and there could be some blips.

Did I happen to mention that I don't know what I am doing!?!?! :fam:

I would like to add a correction. There is no reason any posts should go "poof." I have been downloading backups of the forum database daily. I will do everything in my power to make sure no posts are lost.

Some of the older members of this board may recall when we switched over from the yAbb board to vBulletin back around 2004. That was a completely different type of database and there was no cut and dried way to import or convert it, yet we did it with no lost data.

There might be some lapse in the site's presence online if we don't get off this server before it goes dark, but the migration is being worked on and is a priority project at the moment.

Everyone should raise a toast to Blue Runner for taking on this responsibility. This site deserves to continue and, because of him, it will.

Now, back to work! :)

You're my hero BlueRunner. If your ever in the Tidewater Va area I'll treat to dinner and a drink for sure. Thanks.

Hats off to Valiant for his wonderful support! Note that he does not own a V20 and does not have to help. Same goes for JJURIGA who has also been a huge help in trying to get us set up (except he does own a V20). I can tell you that I could not do it without either one of these dudes....

I didn't realize Valiant was taking backups, I thought the backup I have was the only one, so that is fantastic news.

All that aside, some progress has been made and one way or another we are going to get it going.

I remember all too well when the yabb forum went down on Christmas in 2005 and I was ready to close the site down then . . . MJ and Valiant took over Jan 2006 (if I remember correctly) Valiant migrated the data over to Vbulletin and better hosting . . . and MJ put the hammer down moderating everything. Thanks to Bluerunner and Valiant for keeping it going and hats off to MJ and Valiant for keeping the site alive the last 11 years (through good times and bad times)

When the v20 site was just an idea:

Wow, bigshrimpin, you dug up some memories with that link.

The birth of a nation...

George!! - Where did the time go? You, CB, MJ, GW204, Labii were all on it from the beginning.

Damn . . . reminds me I still have all Labii's wellcraft catalogs that I scanned and need to mail back to him.

BlueRunner and Valiant - I'm not sure what value I can add to the equation, but if you need any help with the site . . . I am happy to pitch in.

yep, the dial up days of AOL. used to wait 5 minutes to see a picture of MJ with a cooler of the biggest flounder this florida boy had ever seen. course ya'll called em fluke.

Thanks for that trip down memory lane BS. Or should we call you Grandpa?

Not to steal his thunder, but I could not resist - Valiant has reported great progress with the site on the new host. This is some great news and we all owe him some gratitude. Still not cut over but thinking it will happen very soon.

- Management (<--ROLMFAO!!!):fam:

Trust me any boat will pound and these are included. It is a 20/21 foot boat. That being said, they do pretty dayum good for a 20/21 foot boat!

But back to the subject:

I don't want to sound premature, but pretty soon we are gonna start a "Good News" thread.....

Thanks Maco & Blue Runner - this is a great site. A couple of comments......

1 Pound - sure do, but tabs make it a very good riding boat.

2. Assistance - send me a PM if there's anything I can do.

3. There is no # 3.

Been away and just read this thread. Much gratitude to bigshrimpin, MJ, and Blue Runner. Thanks so much for keeping the dream alive!
