Ok guys, as you know, I have been the keeper on a couple boats, without actually owning them. This 26 foot Cruiser Yacht will be my *first* boat, that I own. We plan on keeping it docked in erie, and literally spending the weekends on it. I really have no idea what is in store for me, and was hoping, you guys could just give me some "you need to go for it, you wont regret it, it will BE GREAT" stuff...LMAO I am very nervous about buying this thing, will have lots of pics of it by the end of today. I mean, is a 26 footer kinda big? (Thankfully, I have a choice of either a 2007 tahoe, or a 1999 turbo diesel one ton suburban to pull it with, so I think I have that covered).

I guess I need my nerves calmed, before the storm...LOL Ill get it in my garage, and start on it. If it actually just need cleaned up, I am going to be amazed at the deal. But, I find that hard to believe, and I am sure there will be something amiss with it...especially for the price.

MORAL SUPPORT IS WHAT I AM AFTER:part:

UBHSTRY - GO FOR IT MAN! YOU GOT THIS! ITS NOTHING BUT MONEY!!!! PLAIN OLD GREEN PAPER THAT EVERYBODY THINKS IS VALUABLE FOR SOME REASON OR ANOTHER??

:fam:

p.s. seriously - good luck with it. Hope it all works out perfectly.

sit down, take a couple hundred dollar bills, set fire to each one, one at a time, after you've burnt up four or five and you didn't have a fit, you're ready for a bigger boat! the worse thing I could do to some one is talk them into a buying a boat. :nut:

Seriously, check it out like you would a car, check compression and spark, check the fluids and levels. Start it up and run it, if it will turn over 4000 rpm while under way, its probably good to go as far as the engine. Check the shifting, should go in and out of each gear the same, yes it will make a noise when it goes in, thats normal. Listen for grumbling or bearing noises, turn the wheel side to side and see if the noise gets worse(it will make noise hard over). Take a good look at the rubber boots on the drive, they should feel pliable, but not cracked or feeling like you should be able to stick your finger thru it. Worse comes to worse, if you have any questions, give me a call (843) 532-9148

I am flattered but I don't know crap about crap. Cruisers I have heard of but that is about it.. I love Spareparts explaination. For me, boat ownership is quite an experience, rewarding but frustrating.
To quote something I read online: "One good hour on the water erases the frustration of the entire week of work."
Bottom paint, slip fees, maintenance, mechanical (well you got that one covered) just be prepared for the unexpected. Worse comes to worse you can put it on the trailer and park it in the yard next to the other watercraft.

GO for it! Don't be a wuss. LOL...

I've had two Cruisers, Inc boats. A 19 and a 21. Both were good riding, solidly built boats. If your 26 is anything like them you should be fine as far as the hull goes.

LOL.... well in that case I'll tell ya that the first time you spend the night on the hook and wake up on ur boat... you're sitting on the back eating burnt bacon and runny eggs with no salt or pepper with a piece of cardboard because you forgot the forks and drinking fresh hot coffee a little too strong wishing you had brought a sweatshirt for the morning chill.... It will STILL be one of the best meals you ever had.... nothing in the world like it!

Ok, went and looked at it today.....behind a fence, and nobody at the marina to let me in.....about par....:bat:

Well, I am going to take the gamble, and buy it. Talked to the guy at lengh again today, and I feel for 900 bucks, I am more than willing to take the risk on it. I can fix anything that needs it....thats a reality.

So, as of Saturday, she will be coming home to her new place in this world. To be loved and cared for, for another many years. I will post the pics I was able to take, from the fence...LOL I spent more money on less in this life, so wth.

I just noticed, Smoke, that you are down by loiusville....my corporate headquarters is there. Hm.......

Ok, I do believe its a Cruisers inc 268 Seafarer, 1975.
