Any suggestions?? (pics)

well boys the boat sat in the water all last summer and she got some unwanted visitors. I know I have to pry these things (barnicles) off with a putty knife....but then what? How do I get off the left over residue?? any suggestions or experience is appreciated ;D :-/ ;D

You are going to have to pull it once or twice, and invest in a power washer, that will help a lot!

Other wise get some real good anti foul paint, but watch the copper stuff on the lower unit unless you add alot on zinc!
 
Also that stuff loves to grow inside also!!

Thats why it is a good thing for boats in water all year have a new water pump every season!!
 
Pressure wash, scrape and make sure you clean real good around the bellows. Do not use bottom paint, use outdrive paint. If you scrape to bare metal, use a good primer first.

It just got a new pump last spring, you think she need another? she ran fine all year and to the ramp the day i pulled her?
 
I think you are fine for at least one more year on that pump if not more.

Don't forget to use those barnacles for sheepshead bait  ;)

Hey that got me thinking. If you could put a cage around your outdrive and put oh lets say 2 maybe 3 sheepshead in there you wouldn't have anything to worry about ;D :P
