what is the shaft length on that? and how fast does it get you moving? i was thinking about getting a Terrova for mine, but was always confused on if it would push it and what shaft length
If yer gonna add an electric motor on the bow, consider how yer gonna operate it...if you don't mind being confined to the bow the whole time, then you don't need remote control, the remote allows you to change speed & direction from anywhere in the boat, plus the Auto-Pilot REALLY DOES keep the boat on course while yer setting lines, etc...the Terrova, I'm not 1st hand familiar with, but if there's no remote, I'd have to pass on it.
How fast?...control settings from 1-10...I/m generally on 1-3 pulling live-bait cuz I wanna be movin' slow...higher settings can get ya movin' along pretty good, but I don't have any numbers to give ya...like said above, this is a 70lb thrust motor...consider wind and currents where you fish and that might have you thinkin' about an 80lb thrust motor...it's physically a larger motor and would give you more push
Here are some shots from the '84 cuddy the Minn Kota is mounted on now...with a 60" shaft, had to kick it a little sideways toward the helm so it didn't hang over the open hatchway and block access to the bow...
Cterrebone might get some ideas from these pics as well...electric motors aren't for everybody, but I use this one in fresh & saltwater all the time...I missed it while it was gone to NJ...but that's a whole 'nother story...
One other thing...my bow light is blocked and will have to be replaced w/two separate red/green lights eventually...but I'm not doin' any night boating at present, so no rush there...it'll happen soon enough...
