'79 v20 mod list?!

Hey guys!
I recently bought a '79 V20 that is in very good condition but I have a few mods I would like to do.
I won't actually get to the boat for another few weeks, so this will have to be that kind of terrible thread with no pictures. I just want to float some ideas by and see what other people have done. I got this boat for pretty cheap so I have some $$$ to spend on it, especially since the transom, stringers, and floor are solid :)

These are my priority modifications:
-re-wire the boat with dual batteries and 2 bilge pumps on separate circuits
-install accent lighting in the fish boxes and on deck..I'm thinkin RED leds like this, I'm going to get three or four strip LED lights from ScarabChris over at TheHullTruth

-bimini top

Then, if funds and time will allow...
-anchor pulpit and electric windlass
-replace and varnish all the wood trim and make teak hatch covers
-raw water washdown
-redo the dash with new gauges and layout

Another question, I have seen the boat in person but didn't go in the cuddy or look at it. Would someone 5'6" (me!) be able to lie down in it?

Thanks all!!
MJK

Having measured the flat area for cushions inside the cuddy you have 5'2" from the very most forward spot to the door so you'd have to curl up a little bit or leave your toes a hangin' out the door some.

I am 5'9" and I have slept in the cuddy. You need to go at it kind of sideways, but it works. It was not, however, a real comfortable night. I was towing the V from Indianapolis to the Boston area with the wife, kids and dog, and we could not find one danged hotel with a room for the night. It was in the fall, and it got pretty cold out. Wife and kids slept in the suburban and I crawled into the cuddy. It was so windy that the V was bobbing up and down on the trailer all night long.

Not sure about a '79 but here is a pic of a 6'2" guy sleeping in my '94 V21:

Thanks for the quick response guys i love the pics blue runner!! Are you by chance a member of iboats forums as well?
Are cushions still available from wellcraft or aftermarket?

I'm not sure if yours is a 79 if you have livewells/fishwells in the deck. But I'm basing that on my own boat only. I have a 79, and it has gas tank in the deck, with one hatch forward of the gas tank. I have, and suggest you do also, moved batteries to this hatch which sits mid deck, just behind the seats.

Otherwise, sounds like a great set of mods planned. Check my recent posts for a few pix of my work, mostly maintenance vs mods.

:you:ahaha i was wondering about that too...

Thanks for the suggestion tnl, I'll probably wait till I get it in the water and see how she sits before I move weight around. I think the 140 is a fairly light motor for that boat and I'd imagine the cuddy adds some weight. But it has the open transom so I may end up putting the batteries there regardless just because of the space issue.

tnl your boat looks great that brightwork is excellent:beer:!! How much did that full enclosure run you?

If anyone is interested in pictures...sorry I don't have any but I bought the boat from a member of this forum, Preston757 or p-vaugh7 (not sure which is him..or both?) and you can see his pictures of it here.

I'll be headed home for a few days memorial weekend so I'll be sure to have updates and more pictures by then..
