4.3 liter io

Does anybody have a 4.3 liter io in their V? I'm having one put in as we speak and was wondering what type of performance to expect. Speed, gas consumption, etc... It's a raw water cooled 2 barrel with very low hours (under 200).

I had a brand new 4.3 litre mercruiser put in my 1991 V20 Cuddy last year. I have only run it about 10 hours, so it is really too early for me to tell. I had a previous 4.3, and I can tell you it is pretty miserly on the gas. I have never done the calculations. I have never done speed off gps, but the speedo says about 42-45 depending on the conditions at wot.

Why not FWC?? I can tell you from exsprince that raw water will kill that motor in 1/2 the time

Probably money is why he's going raw water cooled. Depending on the model, freshwater cooling can be reasonable to outragous in price.

I don't have a 4.3 so I can't comment on the performance. However, I would definitely spend a little more and go with the fresh water cooling. My 19 year old 3.7 that is fresh water cooled is still running strong.

My guy is trying to convert this engine to a fwc for me but he's not sure that it'll fit yet. He's going to try to take parts off of the old 470 and see if he can make it work. Anybody ever done something like this?

using that heat exchanger off of the 3.7 is going to be difficult to adapt. Orca used to sell kits, or check with ebasic power in harkers Island, if you can't find it on their web site( i hate their web site), call and ask for Junior, tell him what you are looking for

Thanks for the info spare. I'll try to forward it to my guy ASAP it's just a little hairy for me right now. My wife and I are expecting our first and the doctor is inducing this Monday morning so it's crunch time!

let me help you from my experiance, I have two girls. get a ready bag for yourself. I sugest at least three good magazines ( you can be there for a while), plenty of change for the vending machine, or ones for the change machine. I where a hat all the time so when the opertunity presents itself for me to take a quick nap, I pull it down over my eyes and get a few z's(this is good practice for the nest 18-25 years). bring warm clothes for your self, i sugest something that would keep you warm at the South Pole, the closer it gets to show time, the more they turn the thermostat down, it seems like 25-30 degrees should be enough, but your wife will still exclaim, its hot!!! Ear plugs will be usefull, just keep nodding OK( more good practice for the next 18-22 years). A note pad, guys are bad about remembering details like, weight, lenght, hair color, exact delivery time(to the second), doctors name, nurses name, people across the hall names, specific request of odd food for your wife. You will be quized by your wife on this for the next 50-75 years, and expected to remeber it all. BC, Goodys, tylinol, what ever over the counter painkiller/stimulant of your choice, your going to need these after having to talk to every relative, freind, paser byer that wants to be updated on the birth. ANd be prepaired for the chair you sleep in while in the hospital room, I nickname ours "the chair of pain", i figured it was designed so that the husband can experiance the pain of childbirth also.

Seriously, there is nothing that can compare to the joy of the birth of your child, enjoy it.

What ever happened to the good old days when I could just pace in the waiting room like Ricky Riccardo until the time comes to pass the cigars? I will use and value all of your tips and by the way, when do you think it's a good time to mention to her that I purchased another boat? I'm thinking during all of the cursing from intense contractions I can probably slip it in there. What the hell, she's pissed at me then anyway.

yeah, right after she looks at you with the eyes of a serial killer and screams "it all your fault!" Your hands will allready be crushed from her grip, and she probably can't get out of the bed to chase you down

I agree with all!! Congrats!!!

But I was watching a movie last night with Robert Duvall, he is having a problem with his daughters, and says

"You know how all are friends complain that there children grow up and leave?" Wife says yes " Why can' ours" :haha::you:

I say it every day now!!
