2019 mercury 150 4 stroke??

I’m looking for a four stroke for my v20 center console. Does anyone have a 2019 era mercury 4 stroke that can give any reason to not buy one and put it on a v20. Curious if it has torque that matches the other 150’s and if there’s any issues that plauge them.

I have a 2015 Merc 150 on mine. Went from a 150 2S. I really like it, great fuel mileage, very dependable and easy to work on. I do miss the hole shot of a 2S.

Some of the known problems of that motor are the alternators and the trim motors. The IAC valves sometimes go out and a recall for a dealer visit to address a shift shaft issue.

I’ve got about 900 hours on mine, bought it new in 2015

Are u looking new or used?

looking used. One for sale near me 150 EFI for $6500 with 280hrs with controls. I'd prefer a 200 but if a 150 Merc can get me a 26kt cruise that would be good. Previous v20 had a 225 3.0 so I'm sure it's going to be tamer than that. But I just want quiet and economical now. Phat, what's your cruise /top speed with the merc?

I think my top end is around 37-40 mph,not real sure. I’m an old guy, more interested in mpg than speed. Cruise at 31-33 and get a legit 3.75 mpg. I don’t have a fuel gauge, so i track miles on my gps. I go 120 miles between fill ups and usually take close to 40 gallons, avg is a little over 3 mpg.

I have not played with the prop any. I have an aluminum merc prop, 17 pitch.

Also, mine is a cuddy with the fuel tank back against the splashwell. I think the tank in a CC helps on getting on plane.

This is the third 150 merc I’ve had on this boat. Original 84 Black Max, 94 150 Mariner and the ‘15 150 4S.

Gotta admit, i do miss the 2S. Boat seemed more “nimble”. .

I just watched on you tube that a lot of the commercial fishing boats from up north in Alaska are using 2 strokes. They are getting them cause they are ,more dependable and easier two work on.
