2006 Iditarod

Definately a good story. My sister lives in AK an goes to the races every year. I've never been, but would also like to check it out one day. She was saying that this guy King was a bit off the trail, and if it weren't for his lead dog stopping the team, the other race members probably wouldn't have seen or found King and he surely would have died out there. It's definately not a lighthearted sport. Those guys have nads! 8)

I have seen the start many times in and around Anchorage in person, but the real race is out on the trail.

Admittedly, I do not follow it from here.

I even raced dogs once myself. NOT endurance racing just a short sprint race, was very fun.

There's a Veteranarian right here in Spartanburg named Sonny King who's run the Iditarod(see 2001 on the posted site above)...bet he'd be glad to talk to you about if you need any more info...anybody wanna follow up, post here and I'll get you his contact info... ;)...
