Hello,

My engine all of a sudden starting doing this beeping thing. All of a sudden it will start this long continious beep, and the only way to make it stop is to put the throttle in neutral and just wait a minute or so.

Someone mentioned that I may need to change the impella (did I spell that correctly).

Is it an overheating warning?

Thanks

ps. the engine is a 94.

mudda, could be an overheat situation or an oil injection problem. Impeller, thermostats, oil inj. pump[or what drives the pump] Is the pee-indicater shooting a strong stream of water? is the water warm/almost hot? I'm not as mechanically savvy as some of the others on board, but I would defenitly have those mentioned checked out before I'd run that motor again

Phester's right...check the water-flow indicater (pisser)...should be a steady stream of water shooting down outta the back or one side of your motor...if you don't see that stream, SHUT her down...from there, you probably do need new water pump (impeller)...in saltwater when there's a lot of sand intake, it eats 'em up fairly fast... :P...

Mud - A quick test for overheating. Once the motor has warmed up . . . turn off the engine. You should be able to put your hands on the cylinder heads (w/o getting burned).

Get that motor checked out.

What's the motor head?

Is the impellar an inexpensive part to buy and replace?

not expensive at all in relation to burning out the powerhead. That job should be at or around 250.00-300.00. there are a good deal of "unforseen field conditions" while working on old motors,salted-out corroded motors, snapping bolts etc. etc. ,however, it's not a difficult or expensive repair in the whole scheme of things
