1990 Force 150 HP Forsale

In about two - three  weeks I'll be putting my motor up forsale on E Bay.  I like the input you guys gave RM on his Merc 150.  Could I have you help also?  I'm waiting so that I can make a video like RM once the ice is gone.  The boat and motor is in a barn near my inlaws cottage so I can't take pictures yet.  What I do know is its a 25" model, carbed and uses a premix.  Included in the sale is motor with T & T, extra prop, controls, tach, parts for a new water pump, 5 extra plugs, Clymer repair manual.  The shop will put the Force on the shipping palet our new 150 E-Tec is coming on.  I say our because my fishing partner and brother in law recently retired and he wants to get all his ducks inorder.

mac..from watching force outboards on ebay for the last year or so...i'd say a good running 150 force will sell for $1500 to 1800..+ or - a few hundred......definetly do the video..hopefully that becomes a standard on ebay when people say they have a running motor....sure is nice to see and hear a motor your about to buy online.

So that MJ doesn't say the video was taken 2 years ago, I'm going to have the front page of the Detroit news showing the date in it. I really like the video idea. I've never sold on e-bay so please let me in on all the tricks. Thanks Billy Mac ;D

first you got to figure out what is the bottom price that you would take for it......then take that price and make that your reserve price....at that point anything over your reserve is gravy.......if it was mine..my reserve would be $1500.....also...when someone emails you and asks you what your reserve is..dont tell them..you will unknowingly put a mental price cap on your item to buyers...cuz if you dont think its worth more than 1500 they sure wont bid it to 2000...

if it doesnt sell at your reserve price..then at that point your re-list or re-list with a price drop.....make sure you mention its a freshwater motor.....do a 5 day auction..7 days is a bit long...i also like to end mine on a sunday night...cuz everyone is home..bored..surfing ebay...and might mean more people being on the computer at your auctions end to have a bid war for it...an impulsive bidding war is the best thing you could hope for on ebay lol

Thanks Kajun! What about the payment fraud Reel and RM were talking about. Using pay pal and then canceling the charge?

MAC,

When it gets time, I will share everything I learned. The guy who bought mine was a pro ebayer and was asking me how I did the video.

But I aint typing it all so when you get close we can talk on the telephone.

;D

I listed the motor on Craigslist and have received one call on the motor. The listing is for the Detroit area. I've never used Craigslist before is there anything else I should do or know about listing here? Thanks Billy Mac ;D
