12-13-07 trip

Well after seeing the snow pictures, I don't feel so bad about my outing yesterday. Didn't get into any big ones, but did catch alot of em. I kept 5 bluefish, and 5 spanish mackerals. We hooked into a couple of big ones, but my other half kept dropping the rod tip down and lettin the line get slack :-/. Can't really yell at my other half if I want to be even remotely happy at night. At least it aint snowin, middle 80's aint bad weather for DECEMBER ;D.

And to keep that guy satisfied, pictures.

Nice going Ferm!, you da man! never caught a spanish Mac. before, sort look like a bonita, and I bet fights like one to...

They have 2 big runs in them. When they strike they take off for about 30 seconds, and then when they see the boat. I only got small ones on this trip, but my last outing yielded a 28 incher. He fought HARD!!! for his size, really stripped the drag QUICK on light tackle. They are pretty tasty too ;).

And I'm sure glad I didn't listen to everybody who said BLUEFISH is garbage. They turned out pretty D@MN GOOD for dinner too;D. Southern fried in yellow corn meal, and some real cheese grits and hush puppies to finish it off. I AM STUFFED!!! Even my pickey ADMIRAL who hates gamey tasting fish loved em.

Nice job Ferm, very nice.
Lot of guys I fish with throw back the Blues, love fighting them but don't like eating them.
But the Portugese people taught me how to do it, take your fillets, just before you cook them however you like, breadcrumbs, baked, fried whatever, take a lime or two, squeeze the juice all over the fillets, turn them over and do the same. Wait about three minutes at most and then pat them dry with a paper towel or two.
Important do not let the juice sit on them more than that.

My kids eat it like lobster when I do it, you will not believe the taste. ;)

I'm thinking I need to move to a warmer climate!!!!!  I need year-round fishing!!!!!! Nice job!

great catch ferm! i caught and ate some spanish this summer for the first time..they great eating fish! i'm a very picky fish eater also....i grilled mine...i like blues too...trick to both of them is cleaning them and cooking them right away...dont put them in the frig or freezer.

Nice spanyiards Ferm. ;) Fried Bluefish and Spanish is a meal I've indulged in many many times. Sometimes I switch it up and do it on the grill. Either way is mighty fine!

Nice Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I was one that liked Blues, all you have to do for a good piece of blue is gut and trim them as soon as they get on the boat!! Even before you go for another, throw on Ice and eat fresh, they are perfect every time, and make great sandwich's the next day also! ;)

I read in some older posts that you had liked em MJ. When I was kid and money was tight, my DAD used to keep whatever we could. SO I remember BLUES tastin pretty good. I thought they were delicious, I'll NEVER throw another back after eating them this time.

how about a recipe for those cheese grits? it looks good.....or do you just add cheese to grits?
