    rebuilding my V

Well I was able to glass in the transom area so that I can pour the arjay tomorrow. It's not the strongest but all I need it to do is hold the arjay for the time being. I'll go back and grid it down and lay some more glass down. I was very impressed by the 1708 where I tabbed in the inner...

    rebuilding my V

all tabbed in with 2 layers of 1708. Everything went on really good. I really liked using the 1/2" chopped strands from us composites to make my own cat hair with. Way better to work with than the bondo stuff, plus I didn't have to worry about the wax like I would with the bondo hair. Tomorrow...

    V20s...did you know?...

As a kid, my family bought a camp on the barrier island south of where I grew up. So naturally we needed a boat to get out there and start fishing. At that time, my uncle had the '79 that I bought later on and my dad's friend also had a v20. So, my dad went on the hunt to find a 20ft CC that was...

    de-waxing fiberglass before grinding.

That's what I figured KJ, I'll try to find some surface prep locally. Then I'll go over with acetone.

    de-waxing fiberglass before grinding.

you think standard automotive shop solvent would work followed by acetone? I was trying not to have to order the interlux stuff.

    de-waxing fiberglass before grinding.

while I was on the web today this thought popped into my head. "I didn't use a de-waxing solvent or cleaner on the fiberglass before I started grinding". Do you guys think there still would be wax left on the gel coat and fiberglass I sanded years after the repair was made? I wouldn't think that...

    Twin 90s?

My uncle owned the 79 v-20 before I bought it. He had a full flotation bracket made from steel and then wrapped in glass. He then had twin v-4 cross flows on it. WOT was around 55 mph. Since that year hull wasn't self bailing he was able to get away with the boat sitting so low in the water.

    non-ethanol gas

same here, daily or weekly used stuff gets e10, other stuff gets e0. I know it might not make a difference, but I would like to see the air to fuel ratio of an outboard without an 02 sensor running ethanol and non-ethanol fuel. I imagine the ethanol fueled engine would run leaner.

How to own a V21 with out really trying

when we still had the v-23, that's how me and my dad did things. He pretty much gave it to me with the stipulation that he would get to use it when he wanted to.

    rebuilding my V

sorry it took so long for me to update my progress. Shrek, the transom was pretty bad but the repair would have held up fine if the stringers weren't bad. From what I saw, it looked like all the stress was being put on the stringers through that brace the fiberglass man made to compensate for...

prayers sent, tornadoes are horrible. The little one's we get with hurricane are bad and they are nothing compared to the ones you guys up north see.

first catch on new 78 v20

I'd say for safety an extra battery isolated from the other battery and a sea tow membership. You could also get a kicker motor for pretty cheap that can get you back in if something happens. I plan on getting a really small 4 stroke for my V.
